The price is reasonable, the staff was great. I had a balcony and everything was as expected. Nothing over the top, but everything was what I would expect for the price. I'll stay here when I'm in Oakland.

Don't stay here, why is it on Expedia

Posted 15-May-2017
Long story short, work place, staff is extremely rude, everything is broken, it's unsafe, we checked in got food came back and our balcony door was broken and they didn't want to refund us, and ended up ruining our whole trip and charging me like three times. Expedia didn't help us at all either when we called. We ended up just going to crown plaza do I had to pay for that also and it was even cheaper and extremely nice and nice staff. I have paid $1100 on both hotel because Expedia charged me twice and quality in charged me three times and crown charged me once. You guys made my whole trip horrible I ended up just going back to Toronto

Thanks for your comments. The towels provided to all guests are the mandated hotels from Choice Hotels. If you encounter a problem, please inform the front desk immediately. I am sorry for this problem. Sincerely,

Good location for colleges

Posted 06-Mar-2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Location.
Cons: Fix the fire code violation ASAP.
Location: 3 universities are nearby north of the river. Just across the river there are dozens of restaurants and bars.
This Quality Inn was in a handy location to access Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh Univ. or Carlow Univ. Check in was a little weird, but overall the staff was friendly. This hotel had free parking but no free breakfast. The halls were a little dingy but room was clean. The rear "fire exit" (which I thought would lead to the back parking lot) actually led to a locked door. (Code violation?) I would probably not stay at this hotel again.

Thank you for staying with us and for submitting your feedback. We passed our annual fire inspection in February of 2017. Because of your comments, I personally inspected the rear fire exit door. The rear fire exit door is functioning properly. In the event of an emergency, one has to push the red bar on the emergency exit door. The door will open and allow guests to leave the building. The door cannot be opened from the outside. The door is solely to be used as an emergency exit- not a shortcut to the parking lot. Guests can access the parking lot via the hotel's main lobby entrance. When Panera Bread is open for business, guests can access the parking lot via their main entrance or their patio entrance. I hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Ben Greiner Assistant General Manager

Close to Univ. of Pitt.

Posted 01-Mar-2017 on Hotels
The hotel staff were friendly and service oriented. The rooms are old and in need of a makeover. I could hear the person in the room next to us coughing and sneezing as well as the tv. The university is a 10 minute walk, but the immediate neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. Free parking was a nice plus.

Near Pitt but run down and over priced.

Slider to balcony off track and unsecured, both neighboring balconies could walk over and look or walk in my roomind if they wanted. The 1/2" gap on the track let a ton of cold air in so room was freezing in Feb. Better to stay at a $49 hotel out of town... atleast then I expect a dump BUT for over $100 per night I expect security and a comfortable room.
