Great location. Not great room.

Location was great for getting to Pitt. Rooms were small and very dated. Didn't seem clean. Musty/moldy smell. Still sneezing 2 days later.

Pros: Close to attractions.
Cons: Condition of the room, construction-wise.
Location: Phipps Conservatory.
We went to Phipps Conservatory, then spent a pleasing night at this hotel.

Conveniently located

Posted 26-Aug-2015
Pros: Within walking distance of campus. It wasn't a short walk, but one that felt safe along the way. Near to many restaurants and has lots of parking.
Cons: The outside noise could be a little loud at times, but that quickly faded into the background.
Location: There are many museums near Carnegie Mellon University. Lots of variety in terms of food choices: Chinese, Mediteranian, Italian, Japanese, etc.
The hotel is within walking distance of both Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh. The room was comfortable. We were on the second floor and noticed quite a bit of noise from outside at first, but the sound of the air conditioner hides that pretty quickly. The room was a nice place to return to at the end of the day, and as we were out and about all day all we really wanted was a place to sleep soundly, and that was accomplished. As a convenience there is a Panera on the first floor of the hotel which makes getting meals easy. Although we often walked around exploring for interesting restaurants nearby. There were many restaurants to chose from. When we made the reservation we were concerned that it would be too far away from campus to make walking practical. However, we gave it a try and found the walk to be very nice and no where near as far away as we had expected. In fact the walk from the hotel to campus turned out to be well worth it as it allowed us to see more of what the city had to offer in terms of stores and food.

Decent place near Pitt

Posted 16-Aug-2015
Pros: It's proximity to the university as well as pubs and restaurants.
Cons: The look and upkeep of the hotel.
I stayed here for my first night of a 5-night solo roadtrip. I checked in around 8pm on a Saturday night since I'd gone to a Pirates game immediately upon driving in, but the process went swiftly. I chose it since it was one of the cheaper options a few miles away from downtown as well as it's proximity to the university which usually means good bars and restaurants. For the price I paid, it was decent. The elevators are slow, but thankfully there are two of them. The lock on the hotel door had a lot of give. Like A LOT of give. I didn't need a crystal ball to know that it'd been busted into at some point. Also the sliding glass door to the "balcony" was there for decoration because anyone could've gotten into the room from outside. The water pressure was decent, but far from great. All the staff I talked to and dealt with were nice and pleasant. The free parking was also a huge benefit, and the free wifi was actually pretty good. Bed was fairly comfortable, and the room was clean. And it's a short walk to Pitt's campus, and there were a lot of food and pub options less than a mile away. For the price, it was doable. If you're there to see the university or for the nearby hospital, you're in a solid area.

This hotel is in a great location - short driving distance to the cultural district, and within walking distance (about .4 miles) of several restaurants. Plus I LOVE that there is a Panera Bread in the same building. The hotel building itself is a little dated, but comfortable. The staff was amazingly friendly. I would stay here again.

Close to Pitt and CMU

Posted 25-Jul-2015
Pros: Location was perfect for us, Panera right in the lobby is great. Comfortable bed, nice shower.
Cons: Rooms were clean, but the hotel is very old and in need of a lot of a fair amount of repair. No ice machine on our floor was a little inconvenient.
Location: Good location for Pitt and CMU, close to main highways and downtown attractions.
This is an affordable hotel close to CMU. Great location to visit our student and great access to downtown Pittsburgh and South Side Flats.

Quiet reasonable

Posted 19-Jul-2015
I needed a hotel near CMU in Pittsburgh and the Quality Inn University Center meet my needs. I wouldn't exactly say it was in walking distance, but it was a very reasonable place to sleep. It is easy to drive to and from the hotel to CMU or the University of Pittsburgh, which I suggest =is= within walking distance. My room was quiet clean and serviceable although I unplugged the refrigerator due to a ticking noise the compressor was making.
