Thorntonloch House

3.0 star property
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (1)
"The rooms and decor were all simpathetically refurbished in Georgian style. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean. The en-suite I stayed in had a large bath & double shower, the owners were delightful, knowledgeable about things to do around the area. The breakfast was great, various things to eat, they catered for my niece who is celiac, she was delighted to finally stay somewhere and be made to feel part of the company, not an added extra on a special diet! Thank you Mr & Mrs McHeilie"

No 1 Hotel

3.5 star property

"Our overnight stay was satisfactory in that the bedroom and shower room were clean and of good standard. We had a few problems with the heating and had to move rooms a couple of times but were provided with additional heaters and the host did her best to sort things out. We spent a cosy night. Stable Cottage - spacious one level cottage with private courtyard.

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (49)
"The property itself was incredibly quiet and on one side of a cobbled stable area. Every morning and evening, the owner's three elderly horses were led to and from the nearby field and we could often see the horse looking over his stable door from our bedroom window - the pony and Shetland pony weren't tall enough to look over! We saw several deer and hares near the cottage on the grounds. The cottage is in the grounds of Spital House; it was initially hard to find from the directions and maps...
