A visit to the Pâquis bathhouse, on the banks of Lake Geneva, is guaranteed to help you unwind. Locals and visitors flock here year-round to enjoy the restorative waters, a relaxing massage, delicious meals and sweeping views of Lake Geneva. The Bains des Pâquis jetty was originally built in the 1800s and became a municipal bathhouse in 1890\. Today this historic location is one of Geneva’s best-loved institutions. Bathhouse activities change slightly between summer and winter. Visit in the hotter months to stretch out in the sun, work on your tan or take a dip in the cool waters of Lake Geneva. Combine this with a visit to the Hamam baths to experience hot and cold rooms that leave you feeling clean and refreshed. In winter, thaw out in the Turkish baths, steam rooms and saunas. No matter what time of year, be sure to try one of the bathhouse’s exquisite massages. Choose from reflexology, deep muscle massage and shiatsu among the many other techniques on offer to restore your tired body. For a peaceful experience, start the day here with a tai chi class. The bathhouse’s restaurant is a Geneva favourite, popular for its excellent meals and its informal atmosphere. Enjoy a light breakfast to start your day or a warming fondue on cool evenings. The venue has incredible views of the Jet d’Eau, St. Pierre’s Cathedral and the surrounding lakeside. After dinner, walk out onto the bathhouse jetty to take a spectacular panoramic photograph of Geneva’s skyline. The Pâquis Bath charges a small entry fee seasonal passes offer discounts for repeat visitors. Massages and tai chi classes charge separate fees and should be booked in advance. (322 reviews) My stay here was welcoming and mostly comfortable. Room was clean although it felt a little dated, they definitely tried but no denying this is an older property. There was a lovely little welcome bowl of fruit and a well stocked mini fridge. Both coffee and a tea kettle were provided. Air conditioning worked well and there was the option to open the windows which I loved. Bathroom was large with a walk-in shower and toiletries were high-end. I also noted the lack of a proper hotel lobby. There are two restaurants, one is pretty separated and the other opens towards the lobby although that seating is part of the other restaurant/bar area. So really no lobby seating which seemed strange. Overall a lovely stay; however, I would give another property a try before I stayed here again.
