"We loved our stay at Orton Hall. It was a beautiful large suite and we enjoyed being tucked away from all the business of other areas of the Lake District. The check in was super easy and the kitchen is stocked with all the tools you’d need to make your own meals. The shower was fantastic. Great temperature. We would love to stay again."

"The staff was so helpful and so funny! The room was well small-ish but perfectly comfortable and the window opened for a nice breeze in the evening. The meals were very nice and the location/surroundings are beautiful!"

"The photos do not do this space justice - it is perfect for hosting large groups / families and being able to unwind in a relaxing environment.The hot tub was great, and the log burner was also a brilliant touch.We did notice some pet hair (not ours) which allergy sufferers had issue with, however we were able to clean with the tools provided.Great access to local walks."

"Lovely little cottage sat overlooking the river Lune. Very clean inside, nice seating area outside. Nice touch providing food to feed the sheep and goats. Scenery was amazing. We could see and hear the M6 and the trains, but it was background noise, not intrusive. We would stay here again."

"The apartment itself was immaculately clean, well-furnished and spacious. The kitchen is much better equipped than most rentals, with many appliances, kitchenware, staples and even knives that are actually sharp!Location-wise, it’s very convenient—just off the M6, but in a small village and under 40 minutes from the main Lake District towns.The host was proactive and responsive in communications.Because it is a historic building, the central heating is a bit limited. We visited in early April with temperatures in the low single figures and found we had to use the provided supplementary heaters. It can be a bit chilly initially, particularly if you're returning/arriving late, so it just requires a little extra management.Overall: A lovely, well-equipped base for a large family. We would definitely stay again!"

"Had the most loveliest break away with the family. This was our third visit to barneys cottage and every time has been perfect. Our dogs loved the local walks seeing all the animals, the hot tub was a treat to come back to after a day of hiking and Kevin is always welcoming and accommodating. The cottage is cosy & peaceful and clean. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we visit the lakes with our pups. Already looking forward to booking our next visit! "
