The food, the staff, and the whole vibe of the decor are incredible. What a cozy, lovely spot. I know the harsh winters can be hard in a property, but I would suggest they do some minor maintenance (wood paneling on private outdoor onsen area, rust on private porch railing, wallpaper in entrance area) to ensure this amazing hotel can stay around for a long time! The property is classic, with luxurious spaces in the common areas, and generous amentities like free champagne and wine, and marshmellows roasting by the fireplace. The onsen is beautiful, with an outdoor space where you can enjoy soaking surrounded by the snow. The food is amazing, our dinner is kaiseki style, with fresh Hokkaido seafood, vegetables, and black haired beef. There was a large free drinks menu, including beers, sake, whiskey, etc. The breakfast was delicious too, with grilled cod and many assortment of food. The room is spacious, a bit old but kept up nicely. We didn't spend too much time there as we went for the onsen and food experiences. The room was spacious and clean (we had picked the one with private hot springs tub). It was amazing to be able to soak in the private outdoor tub with nature view. Very pampering to be able to wear hotel PJs to go eat breakfast and dinner downstairs which were always luxury multi course delicious meals. They provide shuttle to train station and shuttle several times a day to various nearby ski areas.
