It's small enough to perhaps be called "cute" but you won't catch me using this term. Monteriggioni began as a border fortress built on a round hill by Sienna against the Florentines. It is famous for the intact defensive structure that held up against repeated Florentine attacks in the 11th century; its 10 meter high walls and 14 towers can still be seen for miles around. Monteriggioni has been featured in movies as a typical medieval village. The village is slightly elliptical in shape with two gates (a third has been plugged). Sie ist sauber, rustikal und zweckmäßig ausgestattet. Der Pool ist grandios. Supermarkt und Sehenswürdigkeiten (Monteriggioni, S. Gimignano, Siena…) sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Der Pool inmitten von Weinbergen ist perfekt - immer klares Wasser und eine herrliche Aussicht. Die Pool-Liegen sind in die Jahre gekommen und haben keine Bezüge geschweige denn Kissen. Die Zimmer sind groß und sauber und bleiben auch bei über 30 Grad angenehm kühl. Das kleine Bad hat eine "italienische" Dusche - keine Abtrennung, also jedes Mal Überschwemmung. Die Küchenausstattung ist eher minimalistisch. Die Terrasse ist genial! Die Wohnung war sauber und gepflegt, die Einrichtung und Küchenausstattung teilweise etwas spartanisch, aber völlig ausreichend. Die Lage etwas außerhalb von Monterigioni ist ruhig, die Sehenswürdigkeiten von Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra etc. sind mit dem Auto in 30 -50 min erreichbar. Zu Fuß kann man nach Monterigioni, für weitere Strecken oder Radtouren war es für uns allerdings Ende Juni mit >35°C zu warm. Der Vermieter war bei kleinen Mängeln (defekter Liegestuhl...) sofort um Abhilfe bemüht. Der Pool im großen Garten mit schattengebender Pergola ist super schön und wurde von unserem Kleinen (und uns) geliebt. Fazit: Zu empfehlen! ##### Ulrike W.
