My husband, 5-year old son and I stayed at la Casa degli Avi for a long weekend in June without knowing what to expect. We couldn't have been more pleased with this magical renovated fortress from the Norman era. In fact, our son kept calling it 'the castle'! Our 'room' turned out to be 2 rooms...a downstairs living area with a dining table, living area, and small kitchenette that overlooked the charming courtyard...and a spacious upstairs bedroom with more than enough room for the 3 of us. The style was my favorite mix of maintaining the ancient architecturewhile integrating modern integrity, for example, in the bathrooms and kitchen. Modica is charming to explore, and also close enough that we coudl pop over to the beach everyday. Can't say enough for the kindness and helpfulness of Simone and her father who ran the place too.
