The neighbourhood is a residential and friendly place to stay. Nearby, you’ll find:
• Nearby park, known as 'Mystery Park'
• Lifestyles fitness centre with 50m Olympic sized swimming pool, gym, football and tennis courts
• Anna Jung's Fish and Chips - one of the best in Liverpool (the locals say it's the best... Obviously!)
• Little Owl Cafe: A cool, standalone independent cafe with excellent breakfasts
• Picton High Street, with a couple of bars and a new art gallery. It's changing on a weekly basis, so have a walk and see if you discover anything new!
• Large Asda and Aldi close by
• Plenty of world food mini-marts on Lawrence Road
• Smithdown Road, with it's numerous bars, independent restaurants (check out Belzan!) and a famous dessert shop called Dafna's Cheesecake Factory which is a local institution!
• Head out a bit further towards Penny Lane - an excellent destination in itself and only a 20 minute walk away through the park
Generally, we would advise having a walk around. There is a lot happening in this area, and it's changing on almost a daily basis - you may even discover something new that we haven't mentioned and if you do, please tell us!
On street parking is available a few minute's walk from the property.
Public transport:
There are regular buses into the city centre from Smithdown Road (there is a bus stop a few steps away) – just hop on the 86, 75 or 80.
For shopping, get off at Liverpool One Bus Station (the last stop); for Lime Street Station, Walker Art Gallery, the World Museum, the Empire, etc, get off at Lime Street / Ranelagh Street.
Taxi:
It’s under 10 minutes in a taxi to Lime Street Station and the city centre, and 15 minutes to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. We can recommend a great taxi company for large groups – just ask!
