Lovely, charming old world hotel. Spacious lounge / breakfast room with peacocks looking in through glass doors from the beautiful outdoor courtyard most mornings. Very friendly and helpful staff. Adequate hot and cold breakfast. Room and bathroom plenty big enough for a base with a complimentary decanter of excellent Port. The hotel is located within the outer castle walls up a delightful narrow cobblestoned street where some of the houses have caged birds outside their doors, as well as...

Unique property !
Flamboyant arty experiential interiors with some really cheeky fun pop and sexy hints. This applies throughout the hotel, from the rooms, the corridors, the reception. The lift is genious! A semitransparent capsule bringing you on a space journey through a different crazy theme for each floor (I won’t spoil the details) and climaxing on the rooftop bar with amazing city views. The room had a genious cheeky bathroom and lovely views of Lisbon’s roofs. The welcome was very warm...

From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Every member of staff greeted us warmly and took the time to address any questions or concerns we had. They also recommended some fantastic local restaurants, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed and added to our overall experience of Lisbon.

The suites are located next to the Altis hotel and are a short walk to one of two metro stops (Rato or Marques de Pombal). The apartment we stayed in was clean, comfortable and spacious, offering a small kitchenette, living space, entrance hall and bedroom. The rooms are fully serviced and were cleaned every day. You also get full use of the hotel's facilities including gym and swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and efficient, being able to answer all queries and offering advice on...

From Villa Ricas location I was able to get to everything I needed to. It is close to the underground and near the main bus routes. The staff went out of their way with maps to show me the locations I intended to go to. It was a great stay.

Ever since we first discovered The Metropole in 2016, we have returned to it time and again.
The room: wonderful view of the Castle; balcony looks out on to the Rossio; spacious (with two chairs and a nice old-fashioned chest of drawers); tea-making facilities (IF booked in advance); a minibar. (Missing: Reading lights. One has to make do with the lamp by the bedside, which is not satisfactory.)
The bathroom: clean, and of a generous size.
Towels: the hotel follows the green policy, so that’s...
