There are absolutely grosser things than sleeping in a bed that a stranger slept in before you. They didn’t change the sheets after the guest check out, the sheets was full of bodies hairs and horrible smell. I complained to the owner and he was very rude. My husband and I noticed that we have a skin allergy after stay at this particular hotel which results in intense itching all over my body. Don’t stay there if you care about your health

A very good place in a great location. The only downer was rude older male receptionist at check-in, but he got better later. Other receptionists were very nice and helpful. Clean room with a tiny bathroom.

Decent budget hotel. Small and old, but clean and nice sheets. Great to have private bath at this price. Bathroom was tiny, but great to be private, so I was fine! Check in is confusing, not outside signs and no answer to the bell or the phone number shown outside. Find a way to get in (I got in as someone came out!) reception is upstairs (note, no elevator.) I’d recommend for a short stay of 1-2 days, not long stay though. Overall, for the price, I was really very happy with it for my one night stay.

Location was great and the room was decent for the price. However because it is in an area with a lot of restaurants, we couldn’t open the window to our room without a lot of greasy smoke coming in.

Basic and dated, but great location
No air conditioning on what was a very hot weekend made the room uncomfortable to be in. There was only a fan and openable windows. The windows opened fully without restrictors which was a bit dodgy. Bathroom was pretty tired, shower head fairly useless and no holder so you had to keep hold of it as you washed. Decor was tired and dated. I couldn't fault the location or the service of the staff, but it would be nice to see the place updated a bit.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for
This hotel is cheaper than others in the centre, not counting the hostels, but the condition isn't great. There is no A/C, so you have to open the window, but then it's very noisy. The bed wasn't very comfortable. The sheets and towels were very hard. There was also smell in the room. You can hear everything from the other rooms. Don't expect a good night sleep, definitely not without ear plugs.The location is good though.

The Location is perfect, i stayed 3 nights in sinlge room with bathroom the room was very bright and the window looking to the main street. Staff are very friendly, only one thing which is very minor, the bathroom was having a bit bad smell don’t know the reason

Location was beyond belief- Staff were OVER THE MOON AMAZING First room was pretty tiny, but given the price and location it was good value Second stay we were given a bigger room World of difference Would have NO problem staying there again

Is it hotel.com who made the mistake. I wonder.
We were so frightened when we arrived at Pensao. They are telling us that our booking was cancelled. The reception even showed us on the computer that it was cancelled. We were very worried and scared thinking about where to stay with the luggages in that moment. Wondering where to go. I have to fight and argue with the reception but I do believe that it was hotel.com who was the one who made the mistake. Looks like they did not send to Pensao the booking I did. I'm very upset actually with the experience. Pensao let us stay on the first night to a so so room and then moved us to a good room after the first night. I am wondering and upset just how hotel.com made the mistake. I always use hotel.com every time I go on trip and always happy with the experience. Unfortunately not this time.

Very nice price for CENTRAL area . Some reviews says "the room is too small" . The room is perfect to sleep,take a shower and jumping out to visit the core of Lisbon.

The hotel is located central. Convenient location
The hotel is centrally located and the price is reasonable. This is the only thing I choose. We are a family of three adults. The hotel has no elevator nor air conditioner. Our room was located on 3rd floor. We need to go up and down with our heavy baggages during check in and check out. After that, our sweat was all over our body.

Very conveniently located hotel
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel for 9 days. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room very clean. The location could hardly have been better, literally steps from the main plaza of the city and few minutes walk (less than 5) from the train station for the Sintra trains. A discount small supermarket was just across the street. I would gladly stay here again!

Very centrally located and affordable but the room was tiny, and bathroom even tinier. Windows blocked the noise from outside but I could hear my neighbors well. This place is good for a quick stay if you just want somewhere to crash but don't need much by the way of comfort.

Pensao with no heat
This is the first time for me to stay in a pensao with no heat. Isn't it illegal to rent a place with no heat during winter time? The "no heat" should be included in the hotel information at Expedia.com so that hotel shoppers know beforehand what to expect.

The location is excellent. Everything (restaurants, supermarket, tourist sites) within walking distance and several metro stops are a few minutes away. The hotel itself is just ok for comfort but all in all, a good budget choice.

Great and cheap room in the heart of Lisbon!
Small room with comfortable bed. Very good WiFi! The place seems a bit old but you quickly forget about it as it is very central. It is just a few steps away from one of the city's mais squares, bars and restaurants. Even though it is central, I did not hear any unwelcoming noise after hours, perhaps because I was in one of the back rooms. The bathroom is very small but it does the job. Staff are very friendly.

Newly renovated room, clean, friendly staff, but difficult to find as the house number and the name of the hotel is very small, not easy to find. This resulted in a lot of confusion, as the local do not know either. With our heavy luggages we trundled on a cobble stone street, we were given the runaround by the locals, especially when we were told to go up the hill, once we were up the hill, we were told to go down the hill again.

Great location.
This is in an excellent location in central Lisbon, close to metro stations and within walking distance of some of the city's best tourist sights such as the Elevador de Santa Justa and Castelao de Sao Jorge and as such, is a great spot to base yourself in Lisbon. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. As for the room, be warned they don't provide any toiletries beyond bars of soap, so make sure you bring your own!

It was cheap at €35 a night so things that cropped up that annoyed me have to be weighed against the 'you get what you paid for'adage. The bed was a little hard, pillows were definitely took hard. No shampoo, even for a budget hotel this is unacceptable. Most of the bathroom looked a little rundown, could do with a renovation. The room was prone to condensation so keep your clothes away from the window in winter. Wi-Fi broke halfway through my stay. Somebody decided to set up loads of routers that have to be individually reset (All provided dhcp) if they stop working instead of having 1 master router that could be reset and several (client) satellites that wouldn't need to be. A word on the location, great in theory but it can get a little loud at night and the drug dealers in Rossio square hassle you as you pass through to get to and from the hotel. Great that it is near so much, including pingo doce, the grocery store and many quality restaurants. Hospitality was decent, English skills were ok from most of the staff. Having said all that, it was mostly worth what I paid for it. Probably good for students but not for the budget traveler that expects a little more quality.

Beware of stairs
Stayed for three nights in December 2015. There are no elevator to this hotel. so beware of stairs to reach the reception desk on the 2nd floor. The hotel and room was cold and damp. Electric portable heaters were not provided till requested on 2nd day of stay. Yet throughout the night heaters must be turned off to avoid any accidents. The damp and cold sometimes woke me up through out the night. Beds were made but towels were not changed. Shower head needs to be held when showering because no shower head rest. Location of the hotel was great and close to metro station. Near restaurants, cafes, and a major square.
