Comfortable place to lay your head
Not a luxury hotel but for the price it was cosy and comfortable and just what I needed. Nice and quiet at night which was important to me and staff were friendly and helpful.

Must be the best value for your own room right in Rossio square. Perfect for Metro and train to Sintra. Real old building.

Very bad hotel never stay here!!
We been there and staff says its not been paid so it takes ages to sort that out and we have paid them directly but still they charge my agents card as well so its like double payments and nobody was there helpfull!!

Great service!
Staff are frindly, room service are clean however room are very small for guest and can not properly communicate in English! And it's suited 3rd floor and there is no lift service but overall are good :)

Fabulous view of castle and square!
This hotel was very old, and equivalently down at heel but we liked it as it was excellent value for money and very convenient. We had a basin and bidet in our room and had a short corridor to the very clean communal bathroom, I think only two or three rooms shared this. The view of the castle was fabulous. The owners don't speak english and weren't especially welcoming but we had a good time there.

Great location for a solo traveller
Great location, right on Praça D. Pedro(Rossio Sq) Too much (steep) stairs for the access to the hotel and the rooms. There is not a lift In my booking form I asked to be able to check in at 10am and they were kind enough to accept it. Wifi is free but is available only in the reception floor and I suppose in the few rooms near the reception desk. My single bedroom was barely 9m.sq. There were disturbing spots on the blanket but bed sheets seemed to be clean. They change (only) towels and rubbish bin every day. No iron available in the hotel (too bad). Very kind staff. Overall good choice for a solo traveller who only needs a clean and quiet place for the night.

Not clean
This was not a pleasant place. Poor service. In the tiny single room I stayed there seemed to be plenty of insects living around the sink. The shared bathroom wasn't clean. And it's on the third floor with no elevator, definitely something to be aware of for travellers with plenty of luggage. Even though this is a low budget place at a very convenient/central location, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Room was clean. Nice location. Big negative for the four flights of stairs. Lisbon is hilly enough without an extra hike to your room after sightseeing all day. I would have chosen something else if I knew about the stairs.

Our room was covered in mold, the bathroom had a puddle in the middle of the floor when we checked in and came back when we wiped it up. Thankfully we were out exploring the whole time and didn't stay in the room very long, it was dark and dirty.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Location is so great, right in the middle of the city center. Very close to many good things - metro, restaurants, shops, sight seeing, strand, public transports, and more. It's so difficult to find the hotel's entrance door, it's among the restaurants. The room is quite clean, but it get some bad smell on the early morning through from the drainage holes. Hotel's staffs are friendly, helpful, and nice. Internet is bad connection in the room, but good connection in reception room. Overall according with the price, this is the good place. According with the location it's so great.

I did not like my stay in this hotel. The room was not as advertised. It was too small and cramped. The shared bathroom was not clean. I do not recommend this hostel.

A Calm Stay
I was just there for one night, wanting peace and quiet before sitting for an exam. It was the tranquil place I needed to rest up. Miguel and his colleagues were kind - keeping my luggage after check-out and giving me recommendations for the area. It was a very pleasant stay.

Best location possible. Old tired, basic hotel with many flights of terrible stairs. Really needs help. Given that, they did what they could and staff were very pleasant. Had private shower but had to share toilet. Well, you get what you pay for. I'd go again if I had less luggage.

Only for one night to sleep is OK. Excellent location in middle of downtown and walkking distance to all main historical sights. It is worth 20 Euros for only one night. There is a sink in the room but the bathroom and toilet is outside the room (shared).

Prime location; terrific staff, who all spoke English. Unfortunately, it was a very steep climb to the hotel. The bathroom was the worst. Being seated on the toilet meant having your feet in the shower. The shower had no curtain and was TINY. It was difficult to get the right mix of cold and hot to get a proper temperature shower. Despite the price and location, I would not stay here again.

Terrible-don't stay here even if you are on budget
My travel companion and I booked this at last minute as everything was booked in Lisbon, I knew with the cheap price it was going to be dicey and well, it was terrible. I recognize it is a family run pensao, and I am not going to get a fancy hotel. But, that having been said, there is no excuse for there being spills on the wall that haven't been cleaned up, for them not sweeping under the bed, for just making it ok. There are lots of simple things that can be done to have made this ok, but it was terrible. We were also in a room with no window and it happened to be a very warm day in Lisbon and there was no air conditioning in the room. We were given a fan that only had a timer so I had to wake up a few times during my sleep to turn it back on. Also, please keep in mind this pensao is a shared washroom with other rooms, which again, I am not looking for fancy, but basic upkeep could have turned it from terrible to ok. Do not recommend this pensao at all.

This place is good value for money if you are looking for a budget place to sleep at night and is in an excellent location with great views from the windows. However, it is a very old building and although some efforts had clearly been made to modernise the interior there was obviously still a need to deal with the plumbing in the property.

I didn't like the venue AT ALL and I do not recommend it to single females travelers. For the same price, 5 minutes walking distance from Pensao Santo Tirso you can find much better, clean and cozy rooms. First of all I didn't like the entrance - old and smelly...almost the same is inside. There was so much dust under my bed, the bed cover didn't look very clean as well...I didn't feel safe there. The only thing that I liked is the location...but nothing more than that

Great location, no elevator.
The location was great overlooking Rossio Square and St. George Castle. The down side is that you have to carry your bags up three flights of stairs to get to reception. The decor on the first level is in great need of repair but as you go up it gets better. Not a five star but the location is great. There is no toilet in the room but there was a shower and a sink. If I stay again it will be for longer than two days to make it worth carrying the bags up three flights.

beautiful view
The view was awesome over rossio square. You could see the castle sao george on the hill top. The view over rossio square was great with fountains and old buildings. There is no elevador and we had our heavy suitcases to carry up four flights of stairs. The shower is very tiny. After the grueling climb with heavy luggage the stay was nice

Excellent customer service, they helped us carry our luggage as there's no elevator, very clean and comfortable beds, spacious rooms and located right in the centre of historical Lisbon.

We stayed in different small hotels in the centre of Lisbon on our holiday, they both had very small rooms and were quite hot at night. This Pension was quite OK and the staff were friendly and helpful but the room was really small and had the bathroom behind a kind of glass partition - rather than a separate room. It was OK just for one night but I wouldn't want to stay there for longer.

Although the room I stayed in only had the basics, it was clean and the bathroom was located just opposite the room - which was not bad at all. But defenitely is not suitable for a romantic holiday. The biggest advantage of Pensão Santo Tirso is its location. It is in a central area, next to the key historical and other important touristic sites. I just loved the location and the neighbourhood area seemed very safe. i walked back at 2 am and did not feel concerned about my safety at all. Plus, the gentleman at the reception was very nice and helpful. If you are in Lisboa to explore it, then this place is a good option.

Perfect for low-cost very,basic accomodation
At arrival I expected the worst. The stairs up looked dingy and dirty . The room was very basic but very clean with a very comfortable bed, simple TV, phone and washbasin. Little else. Shared showers / toilet between 4 or 5 rooms. The senior citizens at the desk were lovely - very friendly and very helpful and very reliable. The location, next to Rossi square, is perfect, very central, Metro station very close, buses (incl. to airport) right outside the door. The view from the front rooms (on the square) with the square below and the castle on the hill behind is one of the best in Lisbon. Don't expect meals and room service (apart from wake-up calls), ask for a front room and you will get a great bargain. But don't expect a 5 star (or even 3 star) hotel ! And you will have to get luggage up 3 flights of dingy stairs. I would stay there any time even if just for the view - beats other hostels and backpackers.

Decent budget hotel.
Not a hotel for staying in at - but a very cheap way to stay right in the center of Lisbon. The stairways leading up to the hotel might keep many from entering but once you're inside the hotel at third floor it's ok; Clean rooms, friendly service and acceptable beds. The location is great and as a two-star hotel - and considering the price - Pensao Santo Tirso is worth the stay.

A minha estadia nao se concretizou poque fiquei dececionado ,a entrada era um autentico orinol cheirava mal ,e dificil de soportar.paguei mas não utilizei .deveria haver mais fiscalização!Obrigada.

O sítio a que se refere é a entrada do edifício, não o meu estabelecimento. Dentro do meu alojamento Local está tudo conservado e a limpeza e higiene é o nosso maior lema. É incrível como não tendo ficado ainda tece comentários mentirosos.

Hicimos una larga escala en Lisboa de un vuelo trasatlántico, por lo que sólo necesitábamos la habitación para una ducha y una siesta. Cumplió su cometido. Muy modesta pensión, pero limpia. Lo peor? un tercer piso y escaleras muy empinadas

Solo ofrece una ubicación perfecta
La ubicación perfecta pero es lo único que ofrece este hostal. Primero tienes que subir 4 pisos con unas escaleras interminables. El trato de los recepcionistas deja mucho que desear. El baño dentro de la habitación se esconde detras de una mampara de ducha, hormigas en la cama, el wifi apenas llega y no hay ventilación. Pero por ese precio no se puede esperar mucho más.
