"Pedro, the view, and the egg machine The hotel sits up a hill from the station — a genuine climb, and worth thinking hard about if you have bad knees. Which is exactly why the pickup matters: a phone at Wengen station dials the hotel direct (essential on a data-only eSIM with no voice service, as we were), and Pedro came down to meet us — friendly and hardworking. The pickup is complimentary; our next hotel charged CHF 20 for the same thing. It only runs from 8am though, so leaving earlier means paying for your own taxi. Staff are friendly throughout, though luggage storage is self-service and on the lower level — you carry your bags down yourself. When we struggled with the laundry machines someone helped straight away, and reception gave us the coins free. All our washing done in two hours. We ate on the patio facing the Jungfrau. Burger and mushroom soup were average; the view superb. Breakfast good, especially the chocolate milk and the soft-boiled-egg machine. One real complaint: the bed — we both woke with sore backs more than once."

"Very close to the train station. Easy walk with luggage. The view from our balcony was stunning. Had dinner one night at the restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious. Very good breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel."

Thomas (host) was terrific, always in a great mood, happy to recommend dozens of things to do within the Valley, for all different levels of activity. Even has drop off/same day laundry service. Would definitely stay here again."

Lord of the Rings author J. R. R. Tolkien used Lauterbrunnen as a template for his painting of the fictional valley of Rivendell. But today, the forested Lauterbrunnen is a popular base for many hiking trips in the Jungfrau area. Staubbachfall and Trümmelbach Falls

Staubbach Falls, at 984 feet at the end of a narrow path, is one of Europe's longest free-falling waterfalls. It is just one of 72 waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen Valley and is close to the glacial Trümmelbach Falls, another impressive waterfall that you can get to using lifts and tunnels.

The Jungfraujoch

Go on an unforgettable train journey to the Jungfraujoch, which is 11,332 feet up and is Europe's highest station. Permanently covered in snow, it offers you amazing panoramic views reaching as far as Germany on the clearest days, and is often referred to as the Top of Europe.
