"I would book there again, Staff were friendly and did accommodate us when we wanted the exercise room opened a few minutes early than posted. Some equipment could use a refresh. The rooms were well-kept and clean and the AC worked fine. The breakfast was fresh with a broad range of options. The view over the shoreline are great and there is a little beach nearby (although not really usable due to the seaweed this year). With 3 pools there is room for everyone and there are different areas for relaxing in and out of the sun."
Pestana Viking Beach & Spa Resort

"The room was clean and spacious but a little dated. There was a waterproof sheet underneath the main sheet which was a little uncomfortable to sleep on as it kept wrinkling up in the night. The room had a kitchenette but no plates or cutlery and only tiny tea cups so we had to ask for these. It was nice to have a fridge and kettle though. The staff were mostly really friendly and helpful. The pool and surrounding area was nice but lots of seagulls flocked around there and frequently pooed in it so we’re not sure not clean it was. We both ended up with bad colds after a couple of days of swimming in the pool so we expect it wasn’t very hygienic. The sauna was very cold and therefore not a proper sauna. The gym on the other hand had no air conditioning and was really hot and felt quite dirty. We had a couples massage at the spa which was lovely and very reasonably priced. We also got given recommendations for local restaurants - Tasca 26, Quirinos and Olivalmar were all really good. The dinner buffet at the hotel was basic and rather disappointing. The beaches nearby were nice but you do have to walk to them. There is a cool tunnel in the rock to walk through from the closest beach to the next one and that is a nicer beach to swim from. Overall, it was a satisfactory hotel but not as nice as the photos or description implies."

"Second visit, but not as good as the first. Staff remain fabulous ( perhaps the odd grumpy face at breakfast) but the majority just can’t do enough for you. The pool area had the most awful music (quite loud bass beat) bashing out for the first 3 days, which ruined it for us. The average age of the hotel guests is probably 60-80 years, so many people were not happy. Pool side very busy towards the end of the week, unlike last time, but apparently there is a music festival on this weekend ( Oct 3rd) so try to miss these dates if you want peace and quiet. The location is perfect if you want to wander down to the town or out to the restaurants. Very clean. No hot drinks in the room, which I missed in the mornings. We may revisit, but not for a few years."

"I had a wonderful stay at Vale d'El Rei Hotel & Villas. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and exceptionally clean, with a very relaxing atmosphere. Everything was well maintained, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The breakfast was especially impressive, with a great variety of fresh and delicious options to start the day. The location is a little away from the main road, so having a car is definitely recommended, but that also gives the hotel a quiet and relaxing setting away from the crowds. Overall, everything was excellent, and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again."
