Find hotels in La Martella from £53

For a truly convenient and quality stay in La Martella, the best area to consider is the town centre itself, particularly around Piazza Luigi Einaudi.

This central area offers the most immediate access to local amenities and provides a comfortable base for exploring the region. The piazza is a focal point, often hosting local markets or events, and nearby streets like Via Roma and Via Dante Alighieri are where you'll find the majority of the town's shops, bakeries, and traditional trattorias. It's a very walkable area, making it easy to pop out for an espresso or an evening stroll.

Couples looking for a relaxed yet well-connected experience will find the town centre ideal. You'll be able to enjoy authentic local life, dine at family-run restaurants, and easily access public transport for day trips to Matera or the Murgia National Park. Many accommodations here are smaller, boutique hotels or well-appointed guesthouses, offering a more personal touch.

Families travelling with children might also find the town centre appealing due to its practicality. Being close to everything means less time commuting and more time enjoying your holiday.

The best time to go to La Martella is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October).

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region without the intense heat of summer or the cooler, sometimes wetter, conditions of winter. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions and local eateries.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, late spring is particularly appealing. The landscape is lush and green, wildflowers are in bloom, and the longer daylight hours provide ample opportunity for scenic drives through the Basilicata countryside or leisurely walks in Matera's Sassi districts, which are just a short drive from La Martella. Many local festivals celebrating spring produce also begin around this time.

Families travelling with children will find early autumn an excellent choice. The sea temperatures along the Ionian coast are still warm enough for swimming, but the beaches are less crowded.
