"Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita is one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in, truly unique & memorable! The location was perfect for me, on the outer edge of the Sassi with a beautiful view of the Parco della Murgia Materana. Yet a 5 minute hike to the other side of the hill will have you in the heart of Matera. The room was very clean, furnished with rustic original furniture. When lit with the ample candles provided, one can get a very small sense of how people once lived in the Sassi. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever had in a hotel, stocked with delicious local foods and serviced by a kitchen which provided cooked-to-order eggs and amazing cappucino. The Sextantio Group philosophy of the "Albergo Diffuso" is enlightening and admirable. Their goal is to provide unique travel experiences while preserving cultural and historical heritage, and the result for the guests is an unforgettable experience. "
