Top Kotišina Hotel Reviews

Hotel Antonio

8/10 Good

"End of season stay, so unfortunately the bar was unavailable in the evening and much of the resort nearby was closed for the winter. Room temperature was very warm overnight with a family of 4 in, but reception not manned to help with aircon which could not be reduced. Staff when available were friendly and helpful. Property modern and clean."

Bluesun Hotel Berulia

10/10 Excellent

"First of all, BRELA is beautiful. It does not have a lot of tourist due to the fact there is no cruise ship port bus terminal or airport nearby. It feels very local. The restaurants along the beach walkway were amazing and easy to access from the hotel. The sauna was excellent. There was a small fee but well worth it. You must reserve ahead of time but you’ll have a lot of privacy the beaches out front our world class they are small pebble type beaches, but the water is so clear you can see 25 feet Highly recommend heading out to the right side or to the north to a couple of the beach, restaurants and bars as they have outstanding food and drinks steps from the water wasn’t too impressed with the food at the hotel great buffet breakfast, but I wouldn’t recommend eating dinner there not because it wasn’t good. There’s just so many great options down the beach that are right on the water. The hotel was super clean and had been recently refurbished. We will definitely stay there again."

Bluesun Hotel Soline

10/10 Excellent

"Great location, the AC was not able to cool the room down below 25 degrees Celsius and we had to keep the curtains closed for it to not get hotter. They didn't have another room until the last 2 days. That one was a little cooler and we finally could leave the curtains open and enjoy the view not feeling like we lived in a dark cave. Breakfast buffet was ok, can't recommend the dinner buffet but there are a lot of options in the area. Beach and Adriatic Sea: amazing."

Aparthotel Miramare

8/10 Good

"It’s a slightly older hotel that has been upgraded. The beds were great, linens clean, restaurant more than adequate for breakfast & great location! Everything we needed was accessible to the property. Drawbacks - the parking is so tight all you see are scrape marks on the walls! It took several attempts to park & I drove busses for a living at one point. Top of my class for my CDL. Parking was one of my best attributes, even in tight spaces or backing into it! Nice staff & friendly atmosphere. Would consider staying there again."

Sunny Makarska by Valamar

10/10 Excellent

"It is great for a family style holiday, very relaxing. Everything is designed with family comfort in mind. We are thinking of bringing our friends with kids next time for a joint holiday! Our 3 and half year old daughter absolutely loved it! She had amazing time playing and making friends! Facilities are great there is loads to do for kids of all ages. The playroom and trampolines were an absolute hit for her! it makes it easier for parents to have a bit of down time at evening on the terrace. There is easy access to the beach with tiny pebbles and crystal clear water which we loved. Pool area is clean and wasn’t busy even on a cloudy day. We loved a snooze in the shade in the pine woods next to promenade on a slow afternoon. So peaceful and relaxing! Location of the hotel is great just a short walk to Makarska centre for exploring! Food was ok, there is something for everyone’s taste. I particularly liked a salad bar and healthy options. The pool bar has quality food, very tasty, it was quite a surprise, not something we expected for the standard pool bar! Room has been recently renovated, cleaned daily with loads of attention, quite basic but modern, new air con, TV, fridge etc., the only comment would be that beds could be more comfy with option for extra pillow. It was peaceful for sleeping. The staff were super nice and helpful, always ready to exchange a joke and so friendly! Highly recommended!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kotišina?

The best area to stay in Kotišina is in the immediate vicinity of the Kotišina Botanical Garden, particularly in the upper parts of the village closer to the Biokovo mountain range.

This area offers a tranquil setting with stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and the islands. It's characterised by traditional stone houses, narrow village streets, and terraced gardens, providing a truly authentic experience of rural Dalmatia. The Kotišina Botanical Garden itself is a key landmark, showcasing native Mediterranean flora.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will find this area ideal. You'll be surrounded by nature, great for leisurely walks through the botanical garden or exploring the nearby hiking trails. The peaceful evenings and picturesque vistas create a romantic backdrop for a relaxing getaway.

For those who appreciate the outdoors and a connection with nature, this area is perfect.

When is the best time to go to Kotišina?

The best time to go to Kotišina is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

These shoulder seasons offer warm, sunny days ideal for exploring the Kotišina Botanical Garden and the surrounding Biokovo Nature Park without the intense heat or the peak tourist numbers of July and August. You'll find the hiking trails more comfortable and the local villages less busy.

For those looking to enjoy the full warmth of the Adriatic Sea and partake in all the summer activities, July and August are also excellent, albeit busier, options. The sea temperatures are at their highest, great for swimming and water sports along the nearby Makarska Riviera.
