Only downside is the location is not very convenient, it's about a 20 minute walk into town. It was that and could have been a great hotel when it was built long ago. The rooms were smaller than we expected - even for an old Japanese hotel. Functional with tonsu area with two mats made up for it beds and a little table next to the windows overlooking the lake. Fuji mountain was to the left and just out of view but viable a short walk away. I would have probably chosen a hotel further up the lake as they appear to view Mount Fuji and the lake if I had been able to see that before arriving. Two nights allows for the long train ride to get there from Hamada, check in (nice snacks, robes, and amenities from the hotel), eat dinner, walk a bit in the area and check out where the cable car goes up the mountain behind the hotel to get to a great view of Fuji and buy some fruit for breakfast at the Lawson’s that is about a -0 minute walk away. The next day we did the cable car, a boat ride on the lake, and took the bus to station 5 on the mountain.
