Hotel with peace, tranquility, calmness & serenity

Posted 22-Sep-2016
After a few days of heat and humidity in the bustling city of Kingston, we wanted a day of get away not too far from the airport. Discovered the hotel on Expedia very reasonable priced, however was a bit hesitant given the % negative reviews. We were pleasantly surprised with the peace and tranquility atmosphere. The hotel itself is very lovely with upgrades and improvement in process. Our room was very spacious, clean, comfortable and newly remodeled. We had the ground floor with a balcony that walks out to pool and amenities. Breakfast was included which was very delicious Jamaican cuisine with excellent service.

Posted 07-Sep-2016
There was no spa, marina with no boat services. A Balcony with partial veiw of ocean when it was almost know view. Only one bag of coffee for 4 days. If it was for the nice staff I would have went stayed at another hotel.

Only hotel in Port Royal

Posted 29-Aug-2016
Wanted a room for the night so I could be close to my daughter and help her get settled on her dorm. The room wasn't ready and check in time has passed so we were offered a watered down fruit punch at the bar. We waited for an hour no one came to say whether we could check in so I made my way back to the desk. After checking with the receptionist the bellhop walked us to the room. He didn't exchange as much as a smile he just spoke quietly to himself enroute to the room. I open the door and he left. First downside the room entrance has a view of the garbage and other rubble from the hotels construction. When we entered the room there was no side table, nothing to store ur folded clothes, no wash cloth, no soap, no hot water. The balcony rail was very unstable, I swear if there was a heavy wind it would topple over. The bed was hard as a rock and the morning when I got up u didn't want to see the matress it was filthy. I called the desk about 10pm to ask someone to bring a comforter, I am yet to receive it. I thought to myself everything can't be that bad, so I went to breakfast, boy was I wrong. When you live in Jamaica and Jamaicans cannot cook a decent Jamaican breakfast it's bad REALLY bad. I ended up having toast and a cup of tea...they offered a later check out but I didn't want to stay there another minute. It's obviously a nice property but the person who runs it doesn't have a clue about running a hotel. Much less delivering the best guest experience.

Pros: The ambiance is spectacular ! nice and clean also.. created a real relaxing atmosphere...close to Glorias where the seafood serving is also awesome
Cons: WIFI Service and access to hot water for showers
Location: Dine at Glorias, enjoy the soothing atmosphere on deck by the sea whether dining or just sitting
I had a wonderful stay. all was not perfect in some instances but the willingness of staff to fix the imperfections was efficient, heartwarming and friendly. The restaurant staff make the best pinna colada ever. I had virgin. Breakfast was sumptuous.. although one staff member whom I gave him the nickname "ration".. was the only one who resisted a generous serving of the awesome Jamaican breakfast. He wears a head wrap....still he was quite friendly while being stingy with the serving...lol.. Was disappointed that there were occasions of housekeeping being tardy with room service...bath and face basin not cleaned , more than 3/4 finished toilet paper not replaced, replacement of towels and washcloth made for only one instead of two, table not cleaned of little food remnants, bed not made fully (blanket just put aside on chair). The good news however is that once the omissions were reported staff attended to issues promptly , with an apology and meticulous handling Was not able to connect on WhatsApp for most of the stay...but it was not a major issue for me...just a liitle inconvenience some days...Security was on point at the gate except on one occasion when I was wanting to leave the property about 10.30pm and had to wait for about 5 minutes before security showed up... Most days I preferred a hot bath/shower but had that access only for one day, inspite of my repeated request.. All other days I had a cold water shower which in fact was not too bad...

Good experience

Posted 17-Aug-2016
Pros: The food, the staff, the pool
Cons: Room-darkening blinds would be nice, and more blankets could be provided.
Location: Near to an international airport and very close to historic Port Royal, where local sea-food is available
The room was spacious and comfortable. This was a room with a loft which suited me and my two grandchildren very well. The complementary breakfast was excellent, with a variety of choices including healthful local options. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. This hotel is an excellent option if one wants to explore historic Port Royal, or if you simply want to be close to the airport. I liked the hotel so much on my first stay that I returned there for an unplanned second stint. Highly recommended.
