8.2/10 Very good! (2,319 reviews)
The positive reviews on Expedia did not reflect the experience we had at Ibis Bay Beach Resort. Our room had a strong unpleasant odor, and the shower faucet was installed incorrectly—the hot and cold indicators were reversed. We thought there was no hot water and ended up taking cold showers. When we reported the issue, the hotel sent a maintenance worker who did not speak English, making communication difficult. The only solution offered was to move us after we had already unpacked. We had actually considered extending our stay for another night because we liked the location, but after this experience and the way our concerns were handled, we decided to stay elsewhere instead. A clean, odor-free room and a properly functioning shower are basic expectations. Given the inconvenience and disappointment, we believe a partial refund for our night's stay would be a fair gesture of goodwill.
