"This house is amazing!! Has everything you could need and more! Really appreciated little things like beach chairs, boogie boards, laundry detergent being stocked… only thing that was a little tricky is the master bedroom is separated by a breezeway, an outside breezeway… so if you have small children it is tricky to have both adults sleep in that room. Otherwise house is special, walking distance to the beach, a cute little coffee shop, quick drive to tunnels beach and more!"

"It was a lovely property to stay at. I really enjoyed the clawfoot tub to soak in after a day at the beach. I enjoyed all the beautiful plants at the property. It was nice that they provided beach chairs to use. The north shore of Kauai is amazing!Donna responded very quickly whenever I had a question."

If you’re looking for peace, relaxation, and the authentic beauty of Kauai, this is it. The location is absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the lush mountains, listening to the waves, and enjoying the cool trade winds made every day feel like paradise. The climate was perfect for us—comfortable temperatures, fresh ocean breezes, and just enough tropical rain to keep everything incredibly green and beautiful. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Every interaction made us feel like valued guests, and their hospitality added so much to our experience. We completely fell in love with Hanalei and the North Shore. The slower pace of life, stunning scenery, amazing food, and friendly people made it incredibly difficult to leave. It was exactly the kind of relaxing vacation we had hoped for. Hanalei Colony Resort provided the perfect escape from busy everyday life. Whether we were enjoying the views from our lanai, exploring the area, or simply unwinding, every moment felt peaceful and rejuvenating. We are already planning our return trip next year. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at Hale Pua Kai now four times in the past 7 years. It is the sweetest north shore hideaway you can imagine. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking/eating tools. The house is cool inside even when it's hot outside. It has an "old Hawai'i" vibe that is just so pleasant. You have easy access to Kepuhi (10 minute walk) and Tunnels (15 minutes walk), both excellent snorkeling beaches. The one thing that was disappointing is the bed, which is a bit soft and sagging. My husband was ok with it but I was less comfortable. However, it is not a deterrent! Hale Pua Kai is our home away from home, and we will be going there every year for as long as we can! Thank you, KVR, for being such excellent hosts."

"The view was quite beautiful. It is a very isolated property with a perfect little coffee shop steps away. I wish the beach would have been a swimming/relaxing beach but it was extremely rough waves and hard coral to walk on. When we arrived, the front door was open which was a little alarming. I loved how many towels they provided along with beach fun toys sand chairs. Everything smelled a bit musty, being that the air was so damp and little upgrades could be made to the property. The bedroom with the bathroom attached also had shutters that never closed tight, so the wind howled all night. Board games and a deck of cards would be nice too since there’s no tv."
