Great friendly and polite staff. Breakfast was a mix of Japanese new western style and very tasty. The hot springs were relaxing but bear in mind it is no clothing so don’t be bring your swimming clothing.

You get more than what you pay for
This is a very nice hotel, excellent value for the money. Enjoyed the complementary ramen in the evening. Nice hot spring facilities. Main reception staff could be a little more friendly. Had to park 3 minutes walk off-site because there are only a few parking spots on site. Cost 800 yen, payable at hotel. We had the twin room and were wondering if the bed would fit us two. It did and is no problem at all for a tall person (6’4). The room is small but had all we needed and felt very cozy. Only complaint is that the bed is quite hard and only had one small pillow each. Otherwise, great place to stay!

Clean, easy access to local restaurants and convenient stores, train station etc. Good location for people who like to run and walk in the morning. Room size is small, but this is typical in JP for this cost level of hotel. No complain.

Great location. Close to kakegawa station.
Location is great. 5 minutes walking distance from kakegawa station. They will charge 800YEN for overnight car parking, that's cheaper than other parking areas. Staffs are friendly and reception is helpful. Free hot spring on the top floor with good view. You can find hundreds of restaurants near the station.

Accessible hotel from Kakegawa eki
We stayed in two separate rooms for a family of 4. The rooms were vey small as expected in Japan. Shower area (no tub) was very small. Short walk to Kakegawa station (local train side). We were charged extra child fee eventhough the reservation was made for 2 people per room. This was refunded after we noticed and mentioned it to the front desk. If you don't speak Japanese this could become a problem as there is a language barrier. Onsen was nice but way too hot if you have children, and we have been to many onsens in Japan. Breakfast was plentiful and varied a little from one day to another if you like Japanese food. Robes/pijamas, plenty of towels are provided. Slippers are provided but they are only sprayed and not replaced. Ramen at night is free of charge and convenient.

Nice comfortable hotel with great japanese spa
The rooms are typically small as is standard in Japan. It was well laid out, had most of what one needs in a room - even a mobile phone charger and a safe, coffee maker, hair dryer and fridge! Twin bed room was slightly bigger than the one with the double bed. Breakfast was good, simple Japanese fare with some western food! They have complimentary ramen served weekdays between 9-11 which was great! The Japanese Spa/Bath in the 13th floor was great with separate facilities for men and women. Washing machine and dryers also on the 13th floor were convenient and saved us a lot cuz we could do our own laundry daily if we wanted. Washer was free, dryer was 100 Yen for every 20 minutes. Hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and to the Kakegawa castle for sightseeing. Wifi was good and free all over the hotel. Only problem is that most staff have very limited English and had we not had a Japanese speaker with us to help translate, it would be difficult for most Only-English speakers to get themselves understood or get help.

We are big people so we had to manage the small room sizes and tight bathroom facilities. We were happy that we booked two rooms for the 2 adults and one child and all of our luggage. But everything is immaculately clean. The breakfast had all we needed and the staff were extremely polite and helpful and they speak enough English for us who speak no Japanese. Only drawback was a hard bed. The hotel is a short walk to the railway station though we had the luxury of being picked up at the door. BYOG if you want it. The vending machines have limited after hours snack offerings.

Nice hotel with excellent service. We are in a small place just across the road about 50m to the right which was good. Hotel was well kept. Nice castle to visit 10mins walk away. Good breakfast. We also got free parking and wifi there. Would recommend as a stop en route somewhere.

Best Monterey Hotel, Fabulous Location
I can't say enough good about the Kyoto Monterey! We were there for over two weeks and everything was always perfect. The room was spotless, comfy pjs - ask for a western pillow if you need one -- just tell them the soft kind and they'll whisk them up to you. The concierge will help you figure out how to get everywhere. You couldn't find a better location in Kyoto . From the Monterey - right off Sanjo dori on Karasuma dori you are close to everything. Some of the nicest shops in Kyoto are 3 minutes from your door. If you have your walking shoes ready to go, all of Kyoto is close by -- don't let people talk you out of using those feet! And if something is farther - like a temple you want to see -- you can hop on a bus at Karasuma and Shijo - 3 blocks away and literally go ANYWHERE. A 500 yen bus card is good for the whole day.

部屋はとても清潔ですし、風呂もとっても気持ちが良くて、サウナルームにテレビが置いてあるのは驚きました。朝のブュッフェも思ったより充実で美味しいです。夜鳴きそばは利用しなかったけど、サービスがナイス👍 朝、ルームガードは風呂行く途中館内で紛失したけど、すぐ丁寧に作り直してくださったので助かりました！
