Pocket Guides: Independent Hotels in Jerusalem
Independent Hotels: A Unique Place for a Unique Stay
Sometimes when we travel, we like to know what we are going to get. And on other occasions what we are looking for is a journey of discovery, where the very place that we rest our head reflects its unique surroundings. There can be no better to go on a journey of discovery than Jerusalem, one of the world’s truly special cities, and there is a range of independent hotels you can choose from across town.
Independent Hotels in Jerusalem: Price, Location and Facilities
The beauty of independent hotels is quite how many there are to choose from in Jerusalem. Perhaps comfort and budget is your most important factor, or maybe it is location and design that will draw you to one independent hotel over another. Take some time to search through the independent hotels of Jerusalem, and you will see they range from cheap-yet-stylish guesthouses and budget hotels to boutique luxury resorts. Some are housed in modern buildings while others can be found in historic lcoations that give the hotel a unique feel and atmosphere.
Staying at an Independent Hotel in Jerusalem
One consideration when choosing an independent hotel might be location, even though Jerusalem is a fairly easy city which to get around. The city centre and the neighbourhood of Nahalat Shiva is where you will find a number of high-end boutiques and restaurants. In West Jerusalem, the area around the Knesset – the parliament building – is home to the Israel Museum, the Bible Lands Museum and the Botanical Gardens.
Many travellers head first to the Old City, through the gates in the walls to explore the four quarters – Muslim, Jewish, Christian and Armenian – and the many sites of historic and religious significance. The Tower of David Museum is a great way to get a grasp on the 3,000 years of Jerusalem’s history. There is also an increasing number of hotels in East Jerusalem, with vibrant neighbourhoods, great food, and some landmark attractions such as the Rockefeller Museum and the Garden Tomb.
