We are located in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, a tiny tropical island 8 miles off the coast of Cancun. Our ocean view villa is on the eastern coast of the island and overlooks the mesmerizing turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Located only minutes away from Playa Norte (which has been voted one of the 9 most beautiful beaches in the world), Shanti Del Mar is the perfect destination for a family vacation, an excursion with friends, or a quick romantic getaway. This 2,000 square foot, four bedroom, three bathroom beach home offers enough space to comfortably accommodate up to 9 guests. If only two words were used to describe Shanti Del Mar, they would be, **Private & C** **omfortable**. Our house is an island onto itself. Our entire property is raised one meter (three feet), walled off, and surrounded by natural island flora on three sides. Hop across the street, and you are on your own semi private beach. Take our beach chairs and a cooler of your favorite libations, and dip your toes in the warm waters of the Caribbean. Or walk the surf collecting sea glass which has washed up on the shores from who-knows-where. To start your day, turn on the cappuccino or coffee machines. Then a quick dip in your secluded pool, followed by a shower in the outdoor warm water shower. Breakfast? Whip something up in our complete kitchen. Smell the bacon as the kids ask, "Dad, why are the eggs yokes orange instead of light yellow?" And speaking of orange, there's nothing like mimosas with fresh squeezed orange juice, squeezed every morning by the local merchants right down the street. Now it's time to begin your day diving into a good book and working on your tan, as the kids (of any age) float, swim, or play in our oversized pool. Shanti Del Mar's two master bedroom suites are on the 2nd floor. Each has a king size bed and it's their own private bathroom. They both have sliding glass doors which lead out onto a spacious upper terrace that offer an incredible ocean view, comfortable seating, table, chairs and hammocks. Downstairs, there is another bedroom with a queen size bed, and an upper bunk. The new living room couch is very comfortable and converts into a queen size sleeper. There is a workspace with a desk, comfortable chair and a printer and paper, if someone has to be connected with the "real world." We have mesh Wifi/internet that extends through the entire house including the back yard. The kitchen is fully equipped with granite countertops, coffee maker, Nescafe pod machine, microwave, blender, toaster, and of course, stove, oven, and refrigerator with bottled drinking water and ice maker. The dining area is large enough to comfortably seat eleven people. The living room has a flat-screen satellite TV and surround system. The rooftop terrace is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise over the Caribbean sea in the morning, work on your perfect tan in seclusion during the day, watch the sunset over the Cancun bay in the evening, and star gaze at night. The house has all the amenities you'd want. Every room has it's own separate air-conditioner. All bed linen is cotton and 600+ thread count. The towels are plush luxury cotton. The couches and chairs are comfortable, and wireless internet extends outdoors to the pool area. We are equipped with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, motion detectors, and out door security cameras. Our dream villa is located in the part of the island called the airport strip, sometimes call Gringo Row. Because of it's close proximity to downtown, and you are, literally, across the street from semi-private, walkable beaches, in most people's opinion, this most desirous neighborhood on the entire island. So treat yourself to the ultimate vacation getaway at Shanti Del Mar. Enjoy a morning cup of java, or mimosa watching the waves from the second floor bedroom terrace. Then, shopping and fish tacos in El Centro. Or, sunbath on the white sand beaches of Playa Norte. Or, more R&R, with a good book and the sound of your kids laughing the day away in our private, oversized and kid friendly pool. Oh! Did I mention, there's over 200 restaurants on this tiny little island? We decided the day before to travel to Isla Majeures. I search for a VRBO with a private pool and at least 2 rooms and got very few to choose from. Shanti Del Mar came up and I read the description and it sounded like a perfect fit. We booked! I have to say, not only was it a perfect fit, everything about our little vacation was perfect! The home was spacious, newly renovated, perfectly clean, and had everything we hoped for. The pool was where we stayed the most. I was able to cool off and enjoy the swim as well as do some work while sitting at the patio table. We had a slight blip of internet because a large palm frond fell on the cable but the owner and house concierge took care of it immediately and were very responsive. The cleaning service came in midway and tidied up the place which was very nice! The home was in a perfect location, private, nice views, and I felt safe with myself and my adult daughter. Thank you Larry for being so responsive to anything we needed! We truly loved our vacation and cannot wait to come back! We booked a tour with Cultura Food Tours. That was a lot of fun and the food was sooooo good. Booked our shuttle/ferry ride with Happyshuttlecancun.com and it was very comfortable. Ppe's golf carts were very helpful in getting the cart delivered to the house and taking me to the ferry when we were done. ##### Stephanie G. Spacious for sure.2) The layout is great to allow for privacy, although our bedroom door didn't have a lock. 3) The back yard and pool are delightful. Wonderful, complete privacy there. Cons: 1) Location: light sleepers beware. This house is RIGHT on a busy road. You'll hear traffic all night, especially because it is adjacent to a gas station and the taxi drivers like honking at the gas station attendants. Bring your sound machines!2) Location: The first thing we were told by the host/greeter about the "beach just across the street" is that it would be very dangerous to go in the water more than a few feet because it's all sharp rocks. And so it was. So bring your hiking keens and a good first-aid kit. Or don't go there at all (which is what we did). 3) More about the beach location. The only way to even view the ocean from this property is to ascend the third story stairs to an empty roof top. There is no ocean view from even the second story balcony. We didn't feel that the property was accurately represented by some of the pictures and descriptions in the listing. 4) Missing conveniences: no washer/dryer or dish washer. The kitchen layout is awkward. which matters because if you are doing dishes, then you gotta be in there with others. There is not a Keurig. So don't bring those K-cups like we did! It's a Nespresso . . . and it didn't work. ##### Blair B. LARRY, Jennifer and Santiago were all very quick to respond with any questions or concerns we had and even provided us with an amazing chef to cook at the Casa one night of our stay, couldn’t ask for more! The home was ALL that was listed plus! We were greeted with Great margaritas by Jennifer and Santiago upon arrival. They gave us a tour of the home and the vacation began! We had a couple questions the following day which Jennifer answered quickly. The home is beautiful, comfortable, clean and in a very good location. The roof top patio gave an incredible sunrise every morning! The Island has so much to offer and the locals were incredibly friendly. They stayed in touch the entire time and helped us with everything that we needed. Santiago even helped us arrange a water taxi early in the morning before the fairies started to run so that we could make it back to the airport to catch our flight on time. Santiago was more than willing to fix any issue that we had almost immediately, which were very few. The property is in great shape and is in a great location. We’ve been back many times since then, and we’ve always stayed on Playa Norte. This time, we decided to rent a house mid island for our trip with two other couples. Shanti Del Mar was perfect. Comfortable, luxurious, and well located, this villa was better than expected. The view from the rooftop was stunning. Our proximity to restaurants was great, but we also were able to cook wonderful meals in the kitchen and enjoy the outdoor dining by the private pool. Isla Mujeres is one of my favorite places in the world, and Shanti Del Mar was the perfect place to enjoy our week. Thank you to Jennifer and Yafo for your attentiveness and support. ##### Charles D.
