comfortable room and good location. this is my 2nd time staying here

My best friend and I stayed here for New Year's Eve so we could see the fireworks and attend a dinner (remember that COVID cases are low here so it was a fairly safe move). The hotel itself is well-outfitted and the room was attractive, but I noticed two very important things: one is that there is only a cooler in the room, not a true fridge, which could be quite serious for people who need to store temperature-sensitive medication, and that the twin beds were not true twins, but smaller. As a result I didn't sleep well, and some of the food items we brought with us were in danger of spoiling. However, the view of the fireworks out our window was really great and that made it worth the stay alone. If I ever stayed here again, I would stay alone or with a partner so we could have a decent-sized bed. But the lack of real fridge was really surprising to me, especially since there was a microwave included. These aren't issues worth bringing up with management because it's obviously the choice of the Fusion brand to outfit the hotels this way, so there's no point in complaining. These aspects won't bother other guests, and they didn't ruin my stay; I was just surprised.

Grand in name , Grand in service. This hotel , unlike the others , deserves it's 5 star rating. The service here , with specific mention of Sophie and Johnny, is outstanding. They made our short stay memorable , comfortable and warm. As others say, this is a Grand Ancient Hotel, the grandiosity from the Colonial era is preserved in the architecture and decor and the service remains very high. We had the Executive Suite, excellent value and very comfortable. The bed was large and comfortable , crisp clean linen and the master light control by the bed is very handy. Fluffy cotton bath robes , velvety slippers and and excess of towels completed the comfortable touches. Housekeeping were amazing, we went to breakfast and came back to find the room reset to the check in standard. Everything replaced and in place. The Spa is very high quality, as too is the hairdresser, my partner was totally spoilt on the National Woman's Day, with some impressive discounting (50%) to complete the treat. Location is the best, rooftops views are stunning and cozy, the staff too, amazing. Champagne was served at the correct temperature in the correct glass...something sorely lacking in other 5 stars in the area. We were made to feel very special, and it felt like nothing was too much for them. We ended the trip in a complimentary limousine back to our D1 apartment. Congratulations to the Team there, they are a credit to the group and deserve a very special mention.

I was upgraded on arrival and check-in was very quick. Good discounts at the Spa and on food/drinks. VIP lounge has great canapes from 5.30pm. Bed and pillows are always very comfortable. Clean and lots of attention to detail.

Website not completely updated that they no longer have smoking rooms. That is the only reason we have booked this hotel a number of times. We arrived past 12 noon, no guests around, no music, not all lights turned on, only 1 elevator operating. Was told we cannot check in yet because standard check in time is 2pm. And the arrogant Front Desk attendand told us it is policy. So if they were busy as they were implying, was was there only 1 elevator functioning and only 1 staff at the desk? AC in guest room is not consistently cold, shower holder in the bath was lose, safety deposit box not working because there was no battery, no perculator, coffee and tea facility which were there in the past, gym AC was not turned on as well and I had to wait for the gym attendant to do his rounds, front desk night person watching videos when we arrived in one of the evenings after dinner... The hotel service has greatly declined after they reopened.
