Bui Thi Xuan Travel Guide

Ho Chi Minh City

A busy urban street with various shops, a prominent PT mobile sign, and a mix of colorful buildings.
A street lined with multi-story buildings, some with signs for hotels and businesses.
A street vendor with a cart full of fruits and vegetables, a weighing scale, and a bicycle.
A narrow street lined with colorful buildings, a woman carrying a basket, and a green plant.
A street food stall with a sign reading "CO BÃN XOI MAN" and another sign with Chinese characters.

A very popular commercial hub in Ho Chi Minh City, this spot has a lively mix of technology stores, fancy bars and restaurants and luxurious hotels.

Spend a day shopping along the lively commercial hub of Bui Thi Xuan and get your hands on the latest electronic toys and gadgets to hit the shelves, take your pick of designer fashions or simply sit in a café and watch the busy streets outside. Return in the evening to drink in the street’s trendy bars.

Notice that many of Ho Chi Minh City’s streets are named after legendary cultural figures. This road is no different. Bui Thi Xuan was a female warrior during the early 19th century whose list of achievements includes fighting a tiger and training an army of elephants for battle. These days the only battles are between rival shop owners, who compete for your attention with enticing window displays filled with flashing electronics and stylish clothes.

Shopping is without doubt the main attraction here. Hunt for a bargain on the latest phones, cameras and music players in the electronics stores or try on the trendiest fashions in the boutique clothing shops. As well as the very latest fashions, you can also buy handmade silk garments from smaller shops tucked into side streets. Be sure to shop around and don’t be afraid to ask for a discount.

Take a break at one of the roadside cafés. Enjoy a sweet pastry and a strong Vietnamese coffee while watching the commuters, salesmen and traffic on the busy street outside. You can also get fresh, tasty lunches from many of the cafés and food stalls on this street.

Come back in the evening to see the street glowing with the lights of fancy bars. Join the mix of city workers, hip locals and international travellers for a cocktail or cold beer in the warm evening air. You’ll also find several restaurants open in the evening, serving everything from spicy local fare to recognisable international food.

As you’d expect from a commercial centre like this, there are several hotels within walking distance. Stay in a luxury high-rise suite with superb city views or opt for a more home-like guesthouse.
