The rooms were not only tired looking and in need of refreshing/updating, they were also very stuffy without any source of fresh air beside the little fan in the bathroom. The whole room still had the stale air smell of the fireplace. The whole room was hermetically sealed, causing it to be boiling hot, even though it was only 14 degrees outside. Had a terrible night's sleep, also because the matress was probably older than the building.
When paying at the hotel, I was charged the hotel's rate and not the Hotels.com rate, whilst the owner claimed he was providing me with a different room that would save me money. So I probably didn't even get the room I booked originally (although I have no way of knowing this for sure) and paid more than what I booked it for. (at the time I was too tired to get into it with the owner for sake of 15 quid).
The location is amazing though, as there are loads of lovely places around for a drink and a good bite.
