A great find
What a great find for a short break. Everything was as expected and the owner Adrian was friendly and helpful but left us to get on with our holiday. Will definitely come back though hopefully when the weather is better!

Sweet cottage - well-priced & perfectly located
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage - whilst it is a little dated, you get what you pay for. It is comfortable, has everything you need for self-catering, and a lovely little private garden too. Would recommend Adrian adds some details to his listing, such as the requirement for dogs to remain downstairs. This was not an issue for us, but would have been great to know this in advance. Otherwise Adrian is an excellent host, and was very helpful. Would recommend!

Lovely quiet village
Basic cottage but comfortable. Was surprised to find on arrival that electricity used was to be paid at the end of the week. Had to keep the heating on as the cottage is damp. Signs of damp that had been painted over. Once mentioned to the owner he refunded the electric cost.

Glad to read guest found our cottage comfortable, It is clearly displayed in our listing that electricity is extra, please note we charge per unit exactly what we pay our electricity provider. please also note our cottage is priced around a third of similar properties in the area. part cost of electricity was returned as an act of good faith. signs of damp painted over? (not sure what that means there was no visible signs of damp in the cottage). the week of this guests stay was almost none stop rain (unusual for this area), our guest did say they had done some washing and dried it inside the cottage so we are guessing that is where the moisture came from (condensation). we ask viewers of our listing to please read our other reviews which are mostly 5 star

A relaxing week away
We stayed in the cottage with our dog for a week in September. Adrian, (who lives next door), greeted us on our arrival but respected our privacy during our stay, adding that we can knock if we needed anything. It is an ideal location for reaching the A487, where you can easily access many of the local beauty spots in either direction. Trefin is a lovely little village with a nice pub serving good meals. Thursday night open mic night is well worth visiting, many talented musicians and singers. The cottage has everything you'll need for a comfortable week, lots of information leaflets in the drawers but Adrian can also advise if stuck. Lovely garden to sit in if the weather's nice. Reading the electric meter, working out what you've used and what you owe is well recorded and easy to do, just leave the money on the table. We used less than £10 for the whole week, as we were out most days and ate our evening meal out a fair bit. We only needed the electric fire on a couple of evenings but there are also plenty of electric radiators in each room, if needed. Someone had written in the visitor's book that, 'the cottage and village grow on you' and we certainly found this to be the case. We hope to return again, despite the long drive for us. Host, Adrian made check in easy and our stay enjoyable. Comfortable cottage, photos show it as is. Close to cafe and good pub. Coastal path easily accessible from just outside village. St Davids an easy six mile drive. Only downside is no shop in village, nearest is Spar at petrol station in Square & Compass, c. 1.5 miles away.

Great place to stay
We came here for a week in August and despite the weather being a bit disappointing we had a great time-Trefin is well located for St David’s, White Sands Bay but also not too far for day trips to Tenby and other tourist spots. The house had all the basics we needed (reminded me of my grandparents house), was great value for money and we would recommend to anyone wanting a break in Pembrokeshire.

very enjoyable.cottage was very comfy and the owner was lovely. we spent time in as it was very hot but the outdoor garden area was great and we didnt have to worry about the dog as she couldnt escape from the garden all very safe and secure.would definitely recommend it. ideal for a relaxing break.

Lovely break.
We stayed in Adrian's cottage for a week. Adrian was friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything we needed and checking in and using facilities was all straight forward. Trefin is an absolutely lovely village with direct access to the coast path and fantastic views and walks. Thank you for a great holiday.

Great location
If you like retro you’ll love it here! Quirky little cottage, cosy and comfortable in a superb location. Only 10- 20 minute drive to some beautiful spots… Fishguard, Solva, St David’s, Newgate, Abereiddy, Whitesands…. the list is endless! 10 minute walk from the cottage takes you on to the coastal path and a gorgeous little bay with rock pools and caves.

Lovely location Adrian very helpful we stayed in winter so the weather wasn’t great but I would think in the summer it would be wonderful. Yes the property could do with an update but for what we paid we were happy. I think if it was updated it would still rent at a higher price as it is a lovely location

So good to read that you had a lovely stay at our cottage and thank you for your kind comments. We could modernise the property, but think it would lose a lot of its charm and old-fashioned feel which many of our regular guests like. Also, we would have to substantially increase the price ( which is far lower than other properties in the area ) putting it out of the budget of many regular visitors who just want a comfortable and affordable place to stay near the coast.

Going back in time
Property very clean and tidy. Need updating and if you go at winter time make sure you budget for electric as the heating and water is electric and very old fashioned. Suitable for anyone under 6ft and enjoys walking.

We would like to thank the above guests for their comments, but think a 2 Star rating is harsh all things considered. We accept, as in some reviews, that the cottage is a little old-fashioned, but not the comments about the heating and water heating. All door--frames are of normal height (6'3'') except the one to the small bedroom which is just over 6. The radiators are top-of-the-range and were installed 2 years ago (hardly old-fashioned ) and have economy settings. The insulated hot-water tank and immersion heater are only 5 years old ( date stamped on tank ). Please note that for the whole of their stay the temperature was below freezing, very rare for the Pembrokeshire Coast.. Also, guests only pay for the electricity they use which is charged at the prevailing rate from the supplier.

This is our one and only 1 star review over many years on this and other websites. We were very surprised to read the above comments, the only factually accurate part of the review is that the cottage is dated as stated by other guests in their many 4 and 5 star reviews. We feel this is reflected in the comparatively very low rental price for this area. (Cold) At the time the above guests arrived the temperature inside the cottage was at least 18 degrees (rad thermostats set at this temp) if they wanted the house any warmer all they had to do was to increase the temperature on the radiators (full instructions are in the cottage and it is very simple to do) There is also an electric fire in the sitting room. (Grossly mis-advertised) The information they could not find IS displayed in our website listing as clearly as possible (facilities / rooms and beds). as dictated to us by the website layout; We are very sorry our visitors were disappointed, 99.9 per cent of our guests are happy with their booking, many of them returning year after year. We also point out that we did issue a refund as an act of good faith. We would ask prospective guests to please read our other reviews made over many years (please note review from guests who stayed the week after this visitor's booking) who had a very different opinion of our cottage). I can cope with old fashioned but not old dirty shabby. It’s not fit to rent out and the owner is lt
You need to have someone visit from your rental team . Mould mildew spray needs to be used in. Station . Blaack mould in corner of carpets because they are about 30 year old.enamel peeling of bath. Rust all over towel rail. It needs gutting or upcycling so presentable . Ruined my holiday. I accept it was cheap but it’s not good enough . Smelt snd felt dirty

This is our one and only 2 star review and is easily the most critical review received over many years advertising on this and other websites. Please note that all specific points above are about the bathroom only, Our cleaners would never leave the cottage the way described above, There is no mould around the carpet, Now for some facts from above ; yes there is some small areas of rust on the bathroom radiator, also a small area of damaged enamel on the bath (around 1 inch near the plug hole) it is a small damaged area of an inch or so not peeling off as described above and will be dealt with as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there is no opportunity to do this when the cottage is booked (almost 12 months). The smell (felt dirty?) was probably from the pedal bin full to overflowing with unwashed food containers and goodness knows what else which was left in the utility area in the extreme heat. There was sand etc. all over the property so bad that the cleaners had to spend 2 hrs longer than they normally take to clean it. We did speak to the above reviewer a couple of times during the week and no complaint whatsoever was made or implied. We ask potential guests to please read our other reviews 49 are 5 star/ 17 are 4 star/6 are 3 star/ Thank you for taking the time to read this response.

Lovely well equipped cottage for à quiet relaxing break, everything you needed apart from a barbecue, luckily I took my own! Adrian's communication was excellent so we knew exactly what we needed, from directions to check in/out and he answers questions quickly so no need 6o worry. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

What a gem!
We were blessed with the most amazing weather when we visited in August, granted, but the cottage was so homely. I know some people have commented that it is as bit dated, yes maybe true, but this all adds to the charm, it took me back to my childhood. I wouldn’t change it really. We hope to revisit again in the future as the cottage is in a great location and it’s a such beautiful area to explore.

Enjoyable stay
Adrian was there to greet us and give us instructions on what to do and was on hand for anything. He was a wonderful host. Yes the cottage is dated, but that adds to its character and charm. The whole cottage was very clean which I was very impressed with specially with the current situation. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything that you needed (however I did ask if they had any cleaning anti-bacterial spray, which Adrian did provide ). The lounge and bedrooms were comfy with the added bonus of games to play on wet days.was welcomed. The previous visitors books are a nice touch to read through to give you ideas on what else to do within the area. The only negative point to our stay at the cottage is you have to pay for the electricity used (yes it’s not a lot) but I was constantly thinking of how much we were using. However we really enjoyed our stay and I’m sure we will be back at some point in the future as the cottage is well located, everyone was welcome, Adrian was a great host and Wales has a lot to offer.

Nice to read our guests had a nice holiday in our cottage, Also for planning to return, Sorry about the electricity worries, The electricity is charged this way (per unit used) because this way guests only pay for what they use rather than a weekly charge, We feel this is the fairest way, The average summer weekly cost is around £7.50 and we only charge the amount per unit that we pay the electricity company.

A cosy cottage near the coastal path
A clean, cosy and comfortable cottage within a 10 minute walk of the coastal path. Thank You to Adrian our host for being welcoming; for great directions to the property; for providing cleaning products to use during our stay, and for replying to our pre-stay questions very quickly. The owner Adrian is the loveliest man you would ever meet. He made sure that I was comfortable during my 5-day stay and he went over and above to help me (I had a problem with my car). He has lived in the area his whole life so he is a wealth of information too. The decor is dated, as Adrian admits, but everything is in working order, clean and comfortable. For the price he is offering, you can't go wrong. It's a top, quiet location. St Davids is only 15 minutes drive away and the nearest beach is within 5 minutes walk. I would assume it would be lovely in the secluded garden in the summer. I would recommend this place with no hesitation.

This is a very comfortable friendly cottage which welomes you. Adrian is very helpful and is always on hand if you need him. The surrounding area is beautiful with lovely coves and walks. I wish I had booked for two weeks to explore more.

A perfect base to explore the local area.
The cottage is comfortable and clean, situated perfectly in the lovely village of Trefin. The place is also pet friendly which is great for those of us who don't like the idea of putting our dog in a kennel. This was our sixth visit to the same property and certainly won't be the last.

Quaint cottage in Trefin was all we needed
Adrian was very welcoming and helpful. Cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Very rainy so a clothes dryer would be useful but we got by using the heaters. Stairs to bedrooms could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. Electricity was charged separately based on our consumption for the 3 days, but heaters were used and the cottage will still be the cheapest self-catering accommodation we have booked for the month we will spend in the UK. Wifi worked well both up and down. Thanks Adrian!

Idyllic location

Ideal cottage for short breaks in peaceful village location within short walk of the coast.
We were welcomed by Adrian who showed us around the cottage and explained how everything worked.Adrian & Jean live in the adjoining cottage so were on hand if needed.We really enjoyed our stay, and though it was mid January managed a number of walks along the regions impressive coastline. Lots of places to visit nearby and can recommend the food and service at the 'Sloop Inn' in Porthgain just a couple of miles away. Looking forward to making a return visit perhaps in the spring,or October when the Seals and their pups are in residence in the rocky bays.
