Clean but paper-thin walls

Posted 21-Jun-2016
Stayed before at the Hampton Inn hotels. It's a good chain, reasonably priced. Check-in was efficient. Room was small but clean. Everything worked. Shower was a little difficult with both hand-held and static shower head making it a bit unwieldy. Problem was with watching TV. It was 9pm. I was sitting in the easy chair provided for watching TV and had the sound level set so I can hear. The front desk called and said there was a noise complaint and asked me to lower the TV (so I couldn't hear). The hotel didn't check to see if the noise level was unreasonable. They just took the word of the complainer. It threw off my night. I couldn't sleep much after that and ended up leaving at 4am. If the walls are so thin that I can't watch TV at a normal level something needs to be changed. I wouldn't stay here again.

Business trip

Posted 29-Apr-2016
Pros: Breakfast.
Cons: See above- sleeping conditions far from optimal.
Bed was squeaky, even when just rolling over, pillows uncomfortable, comforter too hot with no alternative, climate control system not flexible. Breakfast was good, though.

Hampton beats Hilton, hands down

Posted 08-Apr-2016 on Hotels
Hampton Inn offered a room for $90 with free parking & hot/cold breakfast. The Hilton in Hartford was our final destination for an Irish dance competition. The Hilton had rooms discounted to 135 (same 1 king bed) with NO beakfast and NO free parking. Hampton had upscale bed & bedding. Hot breakfast & clean facility.

Nothing special

Posted 04-Mar-2016 on Hotels
The hotel served its purpose. It's not a bad place but it's the little things that take away from the rating. The desk chair was broken in our room, the desk itself was very wobbly and not sturdy at all. In both cases it would have just taken a little attention to detail to fix. When we checked out, the woman at the desk didn't smile, say hello, say thanks for staying with us, etc. as we walked out the door right by her. A couple of weeks ago we stayed at another Hampton inn in the same vicinity - the Hartford/Manchester hotel. The staff there were so friendly, the rooms were very clean and well maintained, and you just felt much more valued.

A short trip to Connecticut

Posted 01-Mar-2016 on Hotels
It was a short trip for family reason. Hampton Inn in Rocky Hill was in a convenient location for all meetings and group activities. I appreciate the good breakfast and comfy beds. The hotel was clean, front desk staffs were courteous and nice.
