![The famous pink lakes of Mexico, Rio Lagartos. A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico. 
We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. After driving around the salt mountains for some time, we finally found someone local who took us to this beautiful private salt lake.

"Blue Diamond is out of this world. It feels like walking into a "White Lotus" set. Impeccable grounds, gorgeous architecture, EVERY SINGLE staff member was gracious and kind...the food was amazing, the rooms were beautiful. We saw lots of coatis and beautiful birds. The resort was very quiet and the ultimate place to relax. There are activities to do onsite but they were out of our budget."

"The stay was very comfortable. The beach access is excellent. The pools are very well managed. Only request for them as a vegetarian, the options are few and even those have sub-optimal taste. While other resorts provide wide variety (Thai, Chinese or Indian or middle eastern options), it is lacked for travelers like us. We lived just on those pizza and fruits. It is a meat eater paradise. "
