![The famous pink lakes of Mexico, Rio Lagartos. A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico. 
We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. After driving around the salt mountains for some time, we finally found someone local who took us to this beautiful private salt lake.

"A lovely unique boutique hotel. Located within a easy walk from the ferry terminal. The owners were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony had a small table with chairs and I enjoyed lounging in the hammock. Breakfast was tasty, coffee, juice, fruit, sweet bread, toast and eggs served in different style daily. This hotel ticked all the boxes for us. Thank-you! "

"Beautiful property and friendly staff. Food options were very limited for people adhering to gluten free and dairy free diets. Even having scrambled eggs was difficult because it's mixed with cheese. If you wanted plain eggs, you had to wait in the omelette line, which took a while. Also, options like plain rice were not offered. First time that I've lost weight at an all-inclusive resort. Also, the chair in the room was very uncomfortable and we could not enjoy the balcony because it faced west and the sun was too bright in that direction in the afternoon. Also, monkeys run along all the balconies and one even snuck into our room before we shooed it out. Also, the seating in the resort lobby and bars were very uncomfortable and outdated."

"For the quality it shoud only 60$ it's on a motel level no elevator but its only the experience that is epic. Thier BUFFET IS TRASH ITS ONLY OK IN THE MORNING. THE WATER SYSTEM SMELLED LIKE SEWAGE. "The room was clean and the staff were very nice and friendly. However, the activities for kids were limited. The water park was amazing but kids club seemed more suitable for very young children, and my kids didn’t really enjoy them. The GameUp was also quite expensive — $15 for 30 minutes. The pools were good overall, but the water in one of them was not very clear. I really liked the breakfast. Lunch was okay, and for dinner I especially enjoyed the steakhouse restaurant. Overall, it’s a good place for families with children. As Expedia clients, we had access to a special section in the Gourmet restaurant, but we never used it because it was very dark. We were also given a $300 credit as Expedia guests, but unfortunately we couldn’t use it. Every time I tried to use it, they offered other promotions instead."
