Question 1

Which area of Granada, Andalusia, Spain is best to stay in for cheap hotels?

Accepted Answer

For budget-conscious travellers, La Chana often emerges as a top contender for affordable accommodation in Granada. This area is known for its selection of hostels and inexpensive dining options, making it a practical choice for those looking to stretch their travel budget without compromising on the experience.

Alternatively, the Realejo-San Matías district presents a compelling option, offering excellent value while retaining a central and walkable location. Many budget-conscious adventurers find this area an ideal base, allowing easy access to Granada's main attractions without the premium price tag often associated with city centre stays. It's a great choice for those who appreciate convenience and charm at a more accessible price point.

While not always the absolute cheapest, the Centro/Granada City Centre also features a good number of budget-friendly hotels. Its unparalleled convenience for sightseeing makes it a popular choice, ensuring you're right in the heart of the action with easy access to all the city has to offer.

Question 2

How much does a budget hotel in Granada cost?

Accepted Answer

Budget hotel prices in Granada vary, but you can find a great deal from £47 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates. Typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.

Question 3

When is the most affordable time to visit Granada, Andalusia, Spain?

Accepted Answer

The most affordable time to visit Granada is generally winter, particularly January and February. During these months, you'll find hotel rates at their annual low and flights often at their cheapest. Temperatures are cooler, typically ranging from 6-13°C, which is ideal for exploring the historic Alhambra without the summer crowds, or wandering through the Albaicín's narrow streets at a more leisurely pace. While it's certainly quieter, with fewer tourists around, the city still maintains its charm, allowing you to experience a more authentic local feel. This period is superb for couples or solo travellers who appreciate good value and don't mind cooler weather for sightseeing.

For those seeking a slightly less cold but still budget-friendly option, October is an excellent alternative. It often provides strong value on flights and hotels compared to spring and peak summer. You'll enjoy milder temperatures, usually around 15-22°C, which is wonderful for outdoor activities like hiking in the Sierra Nevada foothills or enjoying a tapas crawl in the evening.
