I booked the hotel but actually stayed in their other property Sama Sherif Basha Hotel due to unavailability issues. This could have gone terribly wrong and was offered to stay in Sama Sherif and at 4am in the morning I don’t want to end up in the streets so accepted. The trip was saved. Ahmed was very helpful in settling us in the rooms and it was spacious and clean. Breakfast was served in the room and could feed a whole village. The check-in at 1am was very smooth and the guy at the desk was so processional, welcoming and smiling. We were given a room with Nile view on the 15th floor which was really nice. The room was large and bed was comfortable. There was kettle for tea/coffee and tea bags, water bottles etc; we were given more every time we requested. The room was clean and the whole hotel was clean, though the carpets were a bit dated. The breakfast spread was superb and choices were really extensive. The man who...

How hotels.com can rate Kemplinski 8.8 and Sofitel 8.9 doesn’t make sense

Everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations. From the security guards to managers, the staff are all polite, friendly and professional. The place is really welcoming and along with the location (busy but very safe) the outside noise level being very low compared to many hotels in mainland Cairo due to being situated on the island of Zamalek, the hotel's bars, restaurants and pool, there's nothing not to like. The hotel is also spotless. Very highly recommended.

Great location with plenty of eateries and shops around but surprisingly really quiet in the room. The bed was comfortable and the mini fridge and kettle were really handy. The blackout curtains made for a great night's sleep. All the staff I met were kind and welcoming and there were always staff in the lobby making it feel very safe. Would definitely want to stay here again!

From the roof terrace this hotel is 5 star, with a central location in Zamalek on the banks of the Nile. With outstanding views over downtown Cairo and the mountains beyond. The views of the river Nile outstretching for miles down the river and over towards the Giza pyramids are fantastic. Part of the terrace is covered part open where I enjoyed great food and drinks and shisha, with a wonderful atmosphere and service. The managers are always on hand without being obtrusive, mixing and smiling...

We were upgraded to a suite. The location is great, 2 min from a mai road with loads of local transport, shops, restaurants, takeaways, art shops, the Nile banks and pharmacies.
One insignificant issue for us was a school opposite the hotel. School drop offs start at 7 am. We are early risers, was not a problem.

We had a very good 3 nights at this hotel. Room was spacious comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful. Good breakfast and room service. Location of hotel was perfect for us as there are lots of restaurants and cafes with plenty shops within walking distance. Safe area and no one hassling you to buy things. Easy to get a taxi to museums and ancient city sites within Cairo.

The Waldorf Astoria is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at... It is stunning and for travellers who want luxury, convenience and an unforgettable stay, this is the place. The hotel oozes quality. The staff are fantastic, the rooms (we were upgraded to a suite) are beautiful, spacious and clean. The facilities, including restaurant and pool are also excellent. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I would not stay anywhere else in Cairo - by far the best hotel for miles around....
