The room was spacious and even had a balcony, and overall the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Shout out to the staff at breakfast. We did not partake in the breakfast, looked good though. They were kind enough to bring a hot water kettle to my room so I could make my tea. An extra they had was a bowl of fresh fruit near the elevator and some individual wrapped candies you could take with you. Beautiful hotel, quiet and centrally located you can walk into town. We consider this our home away from home when we visit beautiful Freiburg. The staff have been the same for the last years of our visits and are so welcoming each time we visit. The hotel is full of charm and interest as each of their rooms is dedicated to a literary author from Germany who have stayed at the hotel themselves. It has a wonderful intimate feeling. The breakfast is always fresh and delicious. The breakfast room is rather small and can be congested especially on weekends. The staff make the best of a limited situation that their is no remedy for but certainly worth the stay regardless. The hotel is conviniently located about 3 to 5 minutes walk from the main train station but far away enough that its quiet. Is it very near the altstadt, another 5 minutes walk. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was decent. The room is very clean and cozy and the bed was most comfortable. Not quite sure how " bigger" people would use it. We don't like showers over baths at any time but this was terrible. Breakfast was fine and staff were lovely.
