Welcome to Mermaid Memories on Folly Beach! This fantastic 3 bedroom 3 bath oceanfront beach home has just been completely renovated. Located on Folly's private West end of the island is the perfect spot for the family summer vacation or long weekend getaway. Nature is abound at this end of the island with dolphin "beaching" encounters as they chase their prey at the county park as well as the chance to witness nesting loggerhead turtles first hand. The owners have spared no expense in turning the home into a upgraded modern beach home while preserving the feel of a classic beach cottage. Ocean views from almost every room in the house will provide the perfect backdrop for a perfect vacation.

Upon entering the home you will appreciate the open floor plan with ocean views around every corner. The kitchen includes all of the modern conveniences of home and has been stocked with all of the amenities even the most discerning family chef would require including Ninja blender, panini maker, waffle maker and Keurig coffee maker! Breakfast bar overlooks the dining area and living room area and provides a seamless transition from one gathering spot to the next. The dining room includes large dining table for the family to gather after a long day on the beach as well as a kids table. Living room features large flat-screen TV for the rare rainy day and large comfy couches to relax on after a long day in the sun.

The oceanfront sunroom is the favorite room in the house and is only separate from the living area by large sliding glass doors. The sunroom has fantastic ocean views and includes 2 twin day beds perfect for a late afternoon nap or spot to catch up on your favorite book. The sunroom provides oceanfront porch access where 2 large palm trees provide natural shade that remind you why you came on vacation in the first place. Numerous outdoor seating options provided on the oceanfront deck will allow everyone to have the best seat in the house for the stunning Folly sunrises and sunsets over the Atlantic. Oceanfront deck connects to the boardwalk, leading you straight onto the beach.

The three bedrooms all have new bedding and new high grade linens. The master includes king bed and private access to the sunroom. Master has attached master bath for the head of the family. The second bedroom includes two bunk beds with both the top and bottom bunks housing queen size beds. Second bedroom has close access to full bathroom off hallway connecting the bedroom and living area. The third bedroom features a king bed with private deck access and comes with a full private bath. The home comfortably sleeps a total of 12 with 2 in the master, 8 in the second bedroom, 2 in the third bedroom and then 2 extra spots on the day beds in the sunroom.

Mermaid Memories includes all of the modern conveniences you would expect in a high-end rental. High efficiency washer and dryer, dishwasher, HD TV's with YouTubeTV in living room and master as well as free WIFI. The home is very child friendly with step stool in bathroom, child's table with two chairs and bench, pack n/play, and restaurant style wood high chair. Home also features an outdoor shower underneath the home, as well as a shower rinse off on the boardwalk. Home is strictly not pet-friendly and non-smoking. About the Owners:
Owners, Rad and Joyce Finch, from Iowa have six adult children and 12 grandkids ages 1 year to age 19. Joyce's annual Folly Beach tradition began in July 1968. Only the year of Hurricane Hugo kept her away. Purchasing this special home in 2015 made it possible to share the Folly experience and joy with many other families. We hope our guests feel like part of our family every time they stay in Mermaid Memories at our favorite place - Folly Beach! We are indeed thankful and blessed!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! House was close to everything we needed and it was the perfect spot on the beach. We rode bikes to breakfast each morning and thoroughly enjoyed the house..especially the sunroom! Already planning to go back!

Great View of Ocean the moment you walk in front door. My favorite place to chill was the daybed on porch. Kitchen is well equipped & water pressure in bathrooms was very good. We loved that it was so close to the County Park. We were completely satisfied with this Beach House and would rent it again.

This sweet home has the best view at Folly Beach. It looks exactly like the pictures on the website. It was extremely clean and well maintained. It had every comfort you could possibly need. I would highly recommend this home!

Great place! Seven of us stayed in the Mermaid Memories house. There was plenty of sleeping space, and we managed to work with the 2 bathrooms. The view is spectacular! Right on the beach, beautiful deck, hammock, and sunroom. The house was clean and very comfortable. It was a wonderful stay!

One of the best houses we’ve ever rented. The view of the ocean from the sunroom and deck is amazing. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had two oceanfront king suites. The kitchen was well stocked. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate so we’re ready to go back.

Staying at Mermaid memories was such a joy. The back porch and view of the ocean was breathtaking. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Getting to walk right down to the beach each morning with our three kids was priceless. The house was clean and comfortable and very homey. We cooked in the kitchen each night of our stay and it was so easy ! We found shark teeth and hermit crabs on the beach and enjoyed the tide going in and out each day. We very much look forward to staying at Mermaid memories again !

The house was perfect! Big enough to fit the family and feel like we all had our own spaces/bathrooms. Far enough away from the pier to basically have the beach to yourself on multiple occasions, but close enough to walk along the beach to dinner every night. Was awesome to rent some beach gear, went paddle boarding, saw dolphins sitting on the deck. Would recommend!

What a cute little house. You can tell from the minute you walk in the home is loved by somebody not just a rental machine. The location is lovely for those who like to be a bit further away from all of the action of downtown Folly. The deck gives you a sense of privacy and the daybeds on the porch are a lovely place to relax. This will be our go to rental in the future when we have a small group.

Family of 7 with 5 kids from 18 months to 11 yrs old. This was our first ACTUAL vacation as a family, and it did NOT disappoint! Perfect location, well-stocked kitchen (which we used a ton), great washer and dryer (which we also used a ton) and so much more. The queen bunk beds were perfect for the 4 older kids. We just can't say enough good about this house! Would definitely stay here again.

The view from the sun porch was mesmerizing. We had planned to spend some of our week exploring Charleston but the house and the beach held us. It was too beautiful. We did enjoy going into Charleston several times for late dinners--it was only 20-30 minutes away. It was exactly the kind of vacation we needed.

Mermaid Memories is one of those cute little houses that epitomizes the beach vibe. It was clean, well-located and had more amenities than I have at my own house. While they don’t guarantee beach chairs or towels, the house has plenty and every kitchen appliance you’d ever need. You can tell this house is well loved by its owners and it’s “honorary” owners. Stayed here for New Year’s Week with our family of 4 - my husband and 2 daughters (13 and 17). The house was perfect- stocked with everything you could possibly need and even things you didn’t know you needed! The sunroom was the perfect place to sit and read and look out on the ocean. And the location could not be beat. The house is on a beautiful stretch of beach, about a 15 min walk into “town”. Having quarantined in our house for months it was just nice to be in this beautiful location away from home!

The house is at a great spot on the Ocean. We could not have been happier. The beach access is superior and the view is magnificent. Recent updates to the property were perfect with the new washer and dryer, the outdoor showers and wash down area at ground level were used regularly. My family enjoyed everything about the property from the bunk beds to the water toys left for people to use. Our mid August trip to Folly and MM will not be forgotten, Thank you for renting out your Beach house for others to enjoy.

Let me start by saying the location of the house is great. The deck is perfect, but my family enjoys sitting on the porch and listening to the waves and we couldn’t do that. There is a large machine on the beach that runs nonstop. The noise is absolutely unnerving. We should have been told about this. This was our family vacation for the year and could not enjoy being outside. Also, the house decorations are so outdated. There are stuffed dolls hanging in every corner of the sun room. The dining room table has a plastic table cloth with plastic mats. None of the wall pictures match just random things hung. The dishes were dirty. There are small rugs everywhere. The large rugs are dirty. The garbage was overflowing when we got there. And was that way for 3 days. Rats were in it one night. Overall not satisfied.

The house was as seen in the pictures, clean, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The quality of the linens, towels, furnishings, kitchen cook ware etc. was of higher end. The out door furnishings were nice as well. It was obvious that this was a personal family home and not used solely as income property. There were unexpected bonuses like Kureg, beach towels, chairs and toys. We were literally steps from the ocean. The feature that was most appealing, and well used, was the front glass room. My husband does not like the heat of the beach in August, so we spent the warmest hours in there, still enjoying the view as if we were right on the shore. It was a lovely space to watch a storm as well. It is walking distance to the end of the island where there is a pavilion and large sand dunes for great pics. I rented a bike and rode the island end to end every morning- only 10.5 miles round trip. Renting or bringing a bike is a great idea for going into the village for dinner or down to the pier. You can avoid the hassle of parking. There is a lot of activity in the center of town and you are super close by bike or car - with the bonus of a quiet beach retreat to return to. Getting into Charleston is a breeze from the island. If you don't hit traffic it hardly takes any time at all. Avoid rush hours like the plague. Bring bug spray for noseeums during the day and mosquitos in the evening. This location was great for each of us in our family as it had what every individual was looking for. Our boys, 18 & 21, had a good time in town, we all enjoyed the history of the area and Charleston, plenty of outdoor activities, shopping and a great place to just hang out. We will book again.
