The Grand, York

The Grand, York

8/10 Good
"If you want a nice central stay, then this is one to consider. We had a couple of issues, which were resolved on the day. However, getting two bottles of sparkling water into the room seemed like a challenge, and being charged £16 for it felt like a lot, especially since they supplied only one bottle and charged for two, and the hotel already provides small bottles of still water. I was not expecting this to be charged, as I have experienced in other 5-star hotels."

The historical sites in Foggathorpe are probably at the top of your sightseeing list. And while you are here in the area, why not also take some time enjoying all of the sights in the area?
How many historically relevant hotels are located in Foggathorpe?
You'll find 46 hotels bookable on Expedia in the larger Selby area, though you won't find many designated historic hotels.
What are the most important historical sites and other places in Foggathorpe?
Places to visit in the wider area include Howden Minster, Yorkshire Air Museum and Kilnwick Percy Golf Course. You'll also find North Cave Wetlands Nature Reserve and York Maze in the area.
What is a historic hotel like in Foggathorpe?
Historic hotels give guests the opportunity to stay in a place officially recognised with a national historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can take the form of stately homes, palaces or even lodges, old police stations or skyscrapers — any building that's been identified as being of special interest. These types of hotels in Foggathorpe often preserve authentic characteristics like traditional architecture and period features within the guestrooms or public spaces.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
They are quite similar. The term "historic hotel" is more common in the U.S., whereas "heritage hotel" is common in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to place more significance on the architecture and actual building. Heritage hotels draw their meaning mainly from the cultural value that the place has and how it inspired the community.
Do historic hotels in Foggathorpe have modern facilities?
Yes. Every effort is made to preserve the historic aspects and traditions, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features. Guests can expect the amenities you'd get from a hotel such as private rooms with updated bathroom facilities, heating and air conditioning, and free and fast Internet. In Foggathorpe, booking a historic hotel doesn't mean you're choosing a place that's uncomfortable for guests or simply rundown.
