Nice Stay

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: The restaurant was expensive but superb! The pool was cool and refreshing. Other than the beach the hotel was clean. The staff was great!
Cons: Raking of the beach should be an ongoing presence. I was told this is one of the only natural beaches in key West. Promote it by maintaining it.
Location: We really enjoyed the Cuban deli one block away for the Cuban sandwich. We enjoyed The Black Fin for lunch/dinner. Commotion on the Ocean at sunset.
Our room was welcoming and clean. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. The beach was not kept up to what we would normally see on other stays at various locations in the world with similar seaweed issues. It is not pleasant to sit on a beach that has a foot high of stinky seaweed. We did not swim in the ocean during our stay. The pool was cool and refreshing which made the stay enjoyable. The noise at night resonating up the center foyer area was disturbing especially during the later part of our stay when it became Bike Week. The last night of our stay there was at least one woman SCREAMING in the foyer. It was not yelling it was screeching. The noise from the garage was very apparent during our stay and the work on the elevator was also noisy. I would stay again as I liked being away from all the "action" on Duval St. A short cab drive and we were there for the period we desired.

Thank you for your recent stay, and for taking the time to write a detailed review of The Reach Resort, Key West. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable visit. We appreciate your kind words about our staff, location, and beach. We would like to apologize for the seaweed on the beach. We do rake one side of the beach, however it is sea turtle nesting season, and we have quite a few nests on the opposite side that prevent us from currently raking. We also regret to hear that your sleep was interrupted by some of the Bike Week attendees, and appreciate your patience. We do hope to welcome you back in the near future. I know if given another opportunity, we can truly provide you with the perfect vacation that you deserve.

Expected more from A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: The beach.
Cons: Everything needs to be improved. From the property to some of the people working there. While some aspects were nice others were pretty bad.
Location: The location is good if you want to be away from Duval madness. Takes about 15-20 min to walk over to Mallory square.
The minute we entered the building I knew I made a mistake booking there. Things looked even more outdated when we walked to our room. The description of "ocean view" is misleading. It should be a bit of ocean view through the palm trees. I booked a room described as "ocean view" and it should have been partial. There are actually very few ocean view rooms due to how the building is situated. The property has strange statues of random looking older man placed everywhere (fire the decorator!!) that gives the entire place the retirement home feel. The room was ok but stains on carpet and chairs, rust on shower door, stain and scratches on front door. I sincerely fell for the "Waldorf Astoria" name and expected more. It's sister resort Casa Marina Waldorf Astoria Resort is another story all together. Much better looking place. If I come back to Ket West, this is where I'll stay instead.

Wonderful time at The Reach!

Posted 29-Jul-2016
Had a fantastic time at The Reach Hotel! The staff was awesome! From Andreas and Diana at the front desk and Galina at the shop, to Mark at the cabana and Justin and Ashley at the restaurant/bar, everyone was amazing, friendly and obviously committed to great customer service! Our room was lovely, and we enjoyed the pool and private beach, as well as the live music every evening featuring CW Colt (aargh!) at the patio bar. All in all an excellent vacation!

Cons: Lower drink prices - 12 for a mixed drink is just too pricy for my taste 10 would suffice.
Was a very nice stay this week. Staff was very friendly and nice. We had a couple times where our room key stopped working, but they got us up and running again. It was just a little inconvenient because we were so far from the front desk. Easy access to the beach which while small, there is still enough room for you. They comp you umbrellas, chairs, and little tables. The staff sets these up for you as well as gives you towels and chair liners. Servers will come around to take your order for food and beverages. The room itself was perfect. We had an ocean view king and could see the ocean. Comfy room and bed! Lofted ceilings. A big sink to hold everything for two of us, and the temperature inside was always cool enough. I really liked how they came around during beach and pool days to offer Italian ices, cold towels, and had "Hydration stations" with infused ice water. It was fruity and refreshing. The pool is a nice L shaped, even with kids jumping in, there was enough room to chill alone far away and not get splashed. There is a ledge the whole way around it that you can sit on while in the water, which is very relaxing. The location is perfect, close to Duval street and Southernmost Point, but opposite of Sunset Celebration (which is definitely walkable), so your side of the island isn't completely overrun by foot traffic and tourists. They have bikes available for rent for $20 a day. Loved it and would definitely recommend.

Excellent, quiet, location with beautiful clean rooms, a great beach, lots of activities, swimming pool and plenty of dining spots on the property. Really liked being at the quiet end of Duval and the Butterfly Conservatory is a must see.
