The Reach

Posted 28-Apr-2016
Pros: The view of The Gulf of Mexico, cleanliness, staff, and locality.
Cons: Leaving the outside bar open longer. I love sitting outside after walking Key West all day. It would be nice just to relax outside and enjoy.
Location: Great location. Walking distance to everything.
Ocean room view was beautiful. Outside bar closes at 5 pm. Went to Casa Marina instead. Spencer's By The Sea has excellent food. Room was not cleaned until 5-5:30 in the afternoon. Close to Duval and other major streets, restaurants, and shops.

Recommended resort.

Posted 25-Apr-2016
Pros: Quiet location. Beautiful facility and beach.
Cons: Availability of less formal dining facility other than limited snacks in the gift shop or white cloth atmosphere at Spenser's.
Location: Consider renting a scooter, or accept taxi fees to visit attractions. Car rental on Key West is not realistic.
Beautiful facility, great staff, wonderful stay!! Concierge service was outstanding. Water activities were booked and available on site.

nice hotel close to the beach

Posted 24-Apr-2016
Pros: Staff, location and a choice between a pool or the beach.
Cons: Time to upgrade. The mattresses were terrible. The bathroom door in our room had severe water damage.
Location: Great location near the southern most point.
We stayed at The Reach approximately six years ago. We liked it very much and when we picked Key West to vacation at again, There was no question where we would stay . Still a nice place to stay and a friendly staff.

Pros: Having breakfast 50 yards from the ocean.
Cons: Shuttle to the airport.
Location: There were a few cafes near by but we had to walk up Duval Street to get to the stores.
It was a wonderful hotel. We had breakfast every morning 50 yards from the ocean. The food was good the room comfortable and the staff very helpful. The only complaint is our room was too far from the lobby. The complex was so large we had to walk down eight corridors to get to the elevator.

Love this hotel! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. One of the only hotels with a beautiful beach where you can swim.

Awful Experience at the Reach Resort.

Posted 28-Mar-2016
So we booked a room through Expedia with two double beds and paid a ridiculous amount of money to stay in a resort that was the eqivalent of a Hilton, don't let the Waldorf Astoria name fool you. While in route to Key West they left a voicemail at 6:30 pm that they were 100% sold out and that they "upgraded" our room. At check in this meant one of us had to sleep on a sofa bed that they tried to sell as a Queen bed. I explained to them that is not what we booked and how can they just assume we would be OK with this change. I'm sorry but a sofa bed is essentially a couch. If I wanted to sleep on a couch we had 8 other friends staying at other resorts and I could have stayed there for free. They said well that's all we have so you need to take it. We stayed there for 4 days and it was not a great experience. We ate breakfast at Spencer's twice and the service was really slow. We had to ask for our check 3 times one morning and it was not busy. At check in they knew I was upset, so they offered to take the resort fees off of my final bill which was around $30 per day. Well, you guessed it at checkout time the resort fees were on the bill, so we had to explain to a new person the whole story about the upgrade that put one of us one a sofa bed. My experience at The Reach was very disappointing. This entire scenerio was unnecessary and aggravating. BEWARE OF THE REACH and watch their upgrades. They might not be doing you any favors.

Beautiful hotel - great location & private beach

Posted 19-Mar-2016
Visited The Reach for a short stay last week. The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble. It's a short walk to the start of Duval Street, and Mallory Sq is about 30 mins walk. The private beach is the real gem of this hotel, the water is shallow and fairly calm. Would be perfect for young children.

Great place to stay in Key West

Posted 04-Mar-2016
Really enjoyed how close the hotel was to the beach. The onsite restaurant was very good. The staff was great. Also enjoyed being close to Duval street, but yet far enough away to still be able to enjoy some peace and quiet. Definitely recommend this to others.

This property did not meet The Waldorf Astoria's s

Posted 04-Mar-2016
The beach was great. The location was convenient. The restaurant and beach staff were excellent. The ambiance and vibe at the hotel was almost non existent. The hotel was simply disappointing. We had high expectations and specifically picked this hotel property. Not a good cost value ratio. This property neglected to inform us that as a guest you have full access to the other Waldorf Astoria 's facilities. The other Waldorf Astoria on Key West seemed to meet the standards expected from a Waldorf Astoria property. Stay here. Our friends loved it. It was a gorgeous property. A beautiful entrance, on the beach, and pools. Their room was in the main building. It was well appointed and had a great balcony and water views. It appeared to be Extravagant but worth expense. Go to Key West. It's fun.
