When the fortune of the Donati waned, the tower was incorporated in the second half of the sixteenth century into the Palazzo degli Albizi, a family of Florentine merchants and bankers who competed for a long time with the Medici for city supremacy. From the Albizi the palace passed in the 18th century to the Tassinari family and finally in 1929 to the family of the current owners. The apartments located in a very central and ancient street, as well as the entire Palace and the Tower, are of great historical interest and bound by the Superintendence of artistic and cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture. It is therefore the ideal place to dive in the history and beauty of the golden age of Florence. The Donati Tower Apartments are located in an ideal position to reach on foot the most important sights and museums of Florence: among others, the Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello Museum, the Duomo with Giotto's Bell Tower, the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo, the Accademia Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, as well as Palazzo Pitti, the church of Santo Spirito and the Boboli Gardens across the River Arno. The terrace was great in the early morning before it got too warm and again in the evening. The AC worked great, the kitchen is well appointed, and the bathrooms are modern and clean. The elevator is great and much needed for my mom who has limited walking ability. It was nice to be so close to so many great restaurants and shops. Would love to stay here again. ##### Seth H. Stephon met us when we arrived and gave us all necessary instructions and delighted us with fresh strawberries, chocolate, and a bottle of Prosecco! Those were the best strawberries I have ever had! The apartment is beautiful and in a great area, surrounded by restaurants and a short walk to all activities. And if you like a hot, strong shower, this is the place to go! The beds were very comfortable with lots of pillows. And the elevator worked great! We were also able to get a taxi directly to the front door, and we were able to get an Uber black just around the corner for our departure. My son and I really enjoyed our stay! Thank you, Stephon! The place is beautifully appointed, spacious, and well equipped, and the hosts are wonderful! The apartment has the old charm of Florence, but all newly done! The elevator was a definite bonus! The apartment is beautiful, well equipped with an elevator (which you will need after all the walking) and close to everything. Stefano and Antonella were great with communication and live just below the flat. Stefano had chocolates and cherries waiting and he took time to tell us where the good restaurants and cafes were. The balcony views from this 4th floor apartment (with a lift) were tremendous. The high ceilings throughout and the combination of a historical building and updated kitchen and baths was perfect. Our hosts communicated very well throughout the booking process, meeting us on arrival and going above and beyond upon departure assisting us with our bags. Not only was there a very complete house manual but the hosts provided excellent tips on their favorite places to dine, get a coffee or gelato. The location is perfect and the apartment is so clean, spacious and comfortable. They also left us information on restaurants and other places to see. The hosts were so accommodating and let us store our luggage there as we traveled to Venice and returned to the apartment a few days later. They let us arrive early and greeted us with fresh, delicious strawberries and Prosecco. They even arranged for taxi services for us. We would definitely stay at this lovely place again. Antonella and Stefano went out of their way to accommodate our every need. I do a lot of international travel and this was the first time the property far exceeded its’ description. Fresh fruit, Prosecco, soft towels, modern appliances. Stefano carried our bags, gave us advice on where to eat, and not just called us a taxi but walked us to our pick up point. The location was central but the property was extremely secure and quiet. I would highly recommend. I am 65 female and traveled with 53 year old daughter and 87 year old sister.
