Flagstaff hotel

Posted 21-Nov-2017
Pros: Hotel Staff, Breakfast
Cons: Bed, Noise from Freight train
Location: On route 66. Lowell Observatory, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki National Monument.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location is good and bad. It is good because convenient to get to the parks and we got to see the sun rise from our room. Bad because it's 200 yards from an active freight train route and the bed was in need of replacement (U shaped).

Convenient location, helpful staff

Posted 15-Nov-2017
Pros: Staff, value
Location: On a main road like many hotels in Flag. Easy 10 min drive to good restaurants.
Like many hotels in Flagstaff, it's on a busy road and very close to the railroad. It appears an older hotel but rooms are fairly up to date, clean and well equipped. Excellent friendly and courteous staff at reception and in the dining room where a good complimentary breakfast was available. Good value at the November time we stayed.

We're always concerned when we receive a three-star satisfaction rating but it sounds like everything was on point. Thank you for mentioning the room updates, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast and the overall value. I think you'll find that many of Flagstaff hotels are built along the tracks. A few years ago, the city arranged to they don't blow their whistles at night when going through town. We hope you'll stay again next time you're here. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday season! best, Scott, GM

Basic, but needs improvement

Posted 26-Oct-2017
Pros: Shampoo/conditioner dispensers are eco-friendly.
Cons: Rates seemed high for essentially 2-star motel. Needs plumbing, heater, pool upgrade and healthier breakfast fare.
Location: Very much a '50s motel-strip location. Outdoors-lovers might want to stay outside of town; to enjoy Flagstaff more, stay in town (at a higher rate).
I was first placed in a "pet-friendly" room with no carpet that smelled overwhelmingly of deodorizing spray. Rooms are small and very close to each other, so I also encountered my neighbor with a friendly dog; unfortunately, my partner has asthma and this was not comfortable. Staff cheerfully changed my room, but I didn't appreciate the placement when I had no pet. Our secondary room had a noisy heater that didn't allow controlling the fan, and emitted a sickening burnt smell; the water pipes thumped like someone was jumping up and down over our room. Chose this hotel because it had a pool/hot tub, but the hot tub looked dirty so didn't use. There is breakfast, though.

Excellent hotel with all expected facilities. Quite a few freight trains passing nearby but once you've heard the first one you tend to switch off to the rest.

Trains

Posted 01-Oct-2017
Pros: The coffee
Cons: It needs to be remodeled.
The size of the room is very small. I mean really small. It didn't seem that way from the hotel photos. Did I mention trains? I wear hearing aids that I remove to go to sleep however throughout the night the trains rumbled. Not much sleep.

Thanks for your feedback. We do have larger suites and rooms more towards the back for those sensitive to train noise. A few years ago, Flagstaff successfully blocked the trains from whistling at night but I think you'll find that most hotels are built along the tracks. We're always happy to help when we can. We hope to have another opportunity to serve you! Best, Scott, GM

Pros: The room was spacious and convenient.
Cons: Needed a microwave in the room. Breakfast choices were limited for a person with food restrictions. There needed to be more variety in fresh fruit,
Location: convenient
We had been traveling and needed a quiet place to rest and re-group. This was an ideal setting for it.

Average hotel with good breakfast

Posted 13-Sep-2017
Hotel has uniquely designed rooms - bathrooms have a sliding screen instead of a door. I could hear people above me and in the halls - not very soundproof. Rooms on either side face the parking lot, so there was also road noise. Breakfast was in a building next door, but good.

Very nice place to stay

Posted 03-Sep-2017
This hotel has a great breakfast, nice rooms, and a very friendly, helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Only drawback is you can here noise from the upper floor if people are coming in on a late arrival.
