"My wife and I stayed here for one night to break up the journey to Dumfries. It’s a wonderful place to stay with very friendly staff and a great bar area with good ales on. We ate at the excellent restaurant and the food was home made and top notch. Rooms are lovely and cosy. Highly recommended"

The Beaumont Hotel

"We had a fantastic stay! Our “standard double” room was better than expected, comfortable bed, spacious, great bath and good water pressure in shower. The choice and quality of food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent, well priced and very tasty. Perhaps the stand out feature of the Beaumont is the staff, without exception..their friendliness and attention leant to a welcoming and relaxed stay."

"The room was clean. The decor was slightly tired, very little room for clothes, just a thin wardrobe. That said, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom excellent with a wonderful shower. Staff were friendly, helpful and were between them the highlight of our stay. Couldn’t ask for better. The bar served good wine, good beer (although they ran out of handpull) and the food was of a very high standard. To say compliments to the chef is an understatement. The hotel has lovely gardens worth a look round although on our three day visit, we were not allowed to go in them two days due to two weddings and the wedding guests get exclusive use of the gardens. I have to say that I was deflated once we had made a non refundable booking to get a message from the hotel saying there were weddings two out of our three nights but I can happily relate that other than garden access, the weddings were fully contained, did not affect bar or restaurant and we could not hear the music. Sharing with weddings is not an issue with this hotel."

"Great place to stay and eat. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. The pub downstairs has a very nice atmosphere. Lots of people dining which is always a good sign."

"Hotel was good. Choice of continental breakfast & staff helpful. I was offered an evening meal but that was withdrawn when I attended to eat. Went to pub next door which was excellent"

"Great place and location. Must admit I find it unusual that I book and paid for a 3 person room. Then told on arrival supplement for 3rd person needs to be paid."
Battlesteads Hotel

"Excellent food& good selection of local beer. Staff were brilliant , very helpful & friendly. Only downside is the room was a little dated, but clean & comfortable. We do intend to return."
