"The hotel was nice, modern and the pool, restaurants and bars are pretty good. Entertainment staff worked hard, as do the housekeeping staff, good variety of food and drinks. There seems to be a lack of toilets though... for either of the pools, Breeze bar or Pala Santo restaurant, you need to go into the hotel itself and there is one set of toilets for the entire downstairs area, day and night."

"A lovely stay. Bungalow 1063 is really nice. I marked it down a little as the terrace door wouldn't lock and the main light in the living area flickered a lot. I did report these faults. I was told someone would be round to fix them within 20 mins. After an hour I rang reception to chase this up and then 5 mins later someone came to fix the issues. Beautiful sunrises from the terrace! Very spacious bungalow. I slept very well. Staff at reception were okay. I don't feel they went out their way to...

I was told someone would be round to fix them within 20 mins. After an hour I rang reception to chase this up and then 5 mins later someone came to fix the issues. Beautiful sunrises from the terrace! Very spacious bungalow. I slept very well. Staff at reception were okay. I don't feel they went out their way to welcome me. I had to ask for directions to the pool, ask about payments at bars etc (I was self catering). Nothing was really forthcoming coming. The map to find my bungalow was very clear. Maintenance work was going on by the pool when I was there so opted to sunbathe at the beach instead. Access to the beach is great. Sangria at the pool bar is ok, no food snacks offered which was disappointing. La Perlita on the beach is fabulous."

"So the facilities (breakfast, pool, access to beach etc) are all really good. Staff were excellent, as was the evening entertainment. The place does look good on the surface, but then you see it needs some TLC: pool ladders need fixing, elevators got stuck, sink plug lets water through, towel hooks spin around, finishing in disrepair etc. But on the whole it’s okay, and the location is very good w.r.t. local shops, bars restaurants etc. And for an extra €30/€50 they can extend check-out to 3.00 or 5.00 PM."

ECO Friendly Volcanic Rock Villa with Private Pool (6.7m x 4.6m) WiFi. Sea View.

10/10 Excellent

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to El Matorral?

The best time to visit El Matorral is typically from late spring (May-June) to early autumn (September-October) when the weather is consistently warm and sunny, and the sea is ideal for swimming.

These months offer average temperatures ranging from 24°C to 28°C, with minimal rainfall. It's great for those who want to spend their days relaxing on the beach or enjoying water sports. The pleasant evenings also lend themselves well to dining outdoors.

For travellers looking for a quieter experience, May and June are particularly appealing. The resorts are less crowded than during the peak summer months, but all facilities and attractions are fully operational. This period is ideal for couples seeking a peaceful getaway with plenty of sunshine.

Families with school-aged children will find September and October excellent choices. The sea temperatures remain warm, and the intense summer heat has usually subsided slightly, making outdoor activities more comfortable.
