While El Guelati is a specific neighbourhood, most visitors to Marrakech choose to stay in either the historic Medina or the more modern Hivernage district. The Medina is the historic heart of Marrakech, a walled city filled with narrow, winding alleyways, bustling souks (markets), and traditional riads (guesthouses). Its central square, Jemaa el-Fna, is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its storytellers, musicians, and food stalls. This area is great for those wanting to experience the traditional culture and be within walking distance of many historical sites like the Bahia Palace and the Koutoubia Mosque. Couples often enjoy the romantic and great experience of staying in a traditional riad within the Medina.Hivernage offers a contrasting experience with its wide, tree-lined avenues, contemporary hotels, and high-end restaurants. It's located just outside the Medina walls, making it easily accessible by taxi. This district is known for its spacious properties, many of which feature swimming pools and extensive gardens.

The best time to visit El Guelati, Marrakech, is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. These seasons offer pleasant weather conditions, with warm days and cooler evenings, making it ideal for exploring the city's outdoor attractions without the intense heat of summer or the occasional chill of winter. You'll find the gardens lush and the skies clear, great for photography and leisurely strolls. For travellers who prefer to avoid the peak tourist crowds and still enjoy good weather, late autumn, particularly November, is an excellent choice. The temperatures remain comfortable, and the city feels a little more relaxed, allowing for a more intimate experience of the souks and historical sites. This is a great option for couples looking for a romantic and less hurried trip.If you're planning a trip around specific festivals, it's worth checking the local calendar, as some cultural events might fall outside these ideal weather windows but offer a great experience.
