Pros: Situation and comfort.
Cons: General maintenance of fixtures and fittings, but nothing major.
Location: Shopping and access to transport for touring and sight seeing excellent.
Hotel a "bit tired" but compensated by convenience for shopping and touring. Hotel staff both pleasant and ewfficient.

Old Waverley, Edinburgh

Posted 14-Mar-2017
Pros: As above, location. Had the hotel been situated in a back New Town street, we would have been more than just disappointed.
Cons: A total refurb, from top to bottom
Location: Again, as above, perfectly positioned on Princess Street with great access to New Town, Waverley Station and Old Town
Fantastic location ; excellent staff (would have been nice to have heard a Scottish accent once in a while, mind) ; breakfast average, acceptable ; room rather basic and dated. One major blot was having to pay a £25 check-in deposit, without prior warning, particularly as we then had our HSBC debit card cloned and blocked as a result for the rest of the stay

Best location to travel around in Edinburgh.

Posted 14-Mar-2017
Pros: Receptionist and staff were friendly and good hospitality.
Cons: Please,I beg you to put 500 litre of water Kettle instead of 0.5 litre water kettle.
Location: Many things, Sightseeing tour bus Visit Edinburgh Castle You can even take 900 citylink bus to travel quickly to Glasgow Arthur Seat hill
I really enjoyed it. You can access to train and bus for travel as it is near both of the station. It was our first time and we loved it.

Nice hotel close to everything

Posted 12-Mar-2017
This hotel is great. A bar and breakfast room that overlooks the Scot monument and Edinburgh castle. Feels like a boutique European hotel which is what it is.

Perfect location.

Pros: Location. Breakfast.
Room was a bit small, one of the pitfalls of booking through budget package company.

City break for leisure

Posted 04-Mar-2017
Pros: It was central and clean.
Cons: We had to pay £25 deposit of our card even though we stated we would definitely not be using hotel bar or restaurant at all as we booked elsewhere 😡.
Location: Hotel situated opposite Scott Monument and Princes Street Gardens and bus tours and railway station and pubs and shops so very handy.
This hotel was just across the road from railway station and was central to all the sight seeing and things we wanted to do.

good, centrally situated hotel

Posted 28-Jan-2017
Pros: Friendly staff. Easy access to city Centre and public transport. No need for a car.
Cons: decor a little dated.
Location: As stated. city Centre and most site seeing nearby. Helpful Tourist Office just across the road.
This hotel is well situated near Waverley station and other public transport. Close to the city Centre. The rooms are excellent value, clean and comfortable. All staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine. We will stay there again on our next visit.

Fantastic location

Posted 20-Jan-2017
Pros: The location was excellent! Rooms were good. Beds were comfy. Great view from our room looking over Jenner's and the Scot Monument and the Castle.
Cons: Hard to improve, but the stairs at the beginning were a bit annoying (not the end of the world though)
Location: Fantastic location. Lots of shopping around, and the Royal Mile was about 10 minute walk away
Right across the street to Waverley Train Station - fantastic! Really close to a lot of great attractions too which made it easy to stop in and out of the hotel when needed.

central to most attractions

Posted 11-Jan-2017
Pros: being central ,
Cons: up date rooms, and better lift facilities a must
Location: waverly station, shopping, bars restaurants ,and close to old town
the hotel is well positioned,old/historic but tired ,room on top floor small, with small bathroom and lopsided bed,and 1 tiny inadequate lift for all, could have been much better, hotel facilities,bar/restaurant looked good but didn't try,if you are handicapped there are stairs to climb to reception from entrance

Comfortable hotel close to everything!

Posted 30-Dec-2016
Very comfy rooms (a little warm though), and a location that can't be beat.
