Comfortable old hotel in a great central location

Posted 04-Feb-2016
Pros: The Princes Street location is superb for a short retail focused visit. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff very attentive,
Cons: For my purposes the Old Waverley fitted the bill perfectly,
Location: All of central Edinburgh is there to savour!
On the whole this was a good experience, the Old Waverley Hotel is ideally placed for a visit to Edinburgh by train. The hotel itself is in good condition although not modern. There were a couple of slightly annoying issues in my room (419)' the radiator gurgle and growled throughout my stay and the TV reception was a bit patchy and the noise from drunks fighting outside at 2.00 am was a pest. The staff could not have been more helpful and breakfast was excellent.

Charming hotel!

Posted 01-Feb-2016
Location: This is a great location - close to the tram from the airport, and old town Edinburgh is a brief 10 minute walk away.
We stayed here while visiting Edinburgh and we adored this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was charming. We received a free upgrade to a lovely room that had a small reading nook and the view of the city was gorgeous. If we ever return to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel on Princes Street

Posted 30-Jan-2016
Pros: Nice central position, very nice room and a more than adequate breakfast all at a very reasonable price.
Cons: All OK for us
Location: Close to the Castle and Holyrood house and all the brilliant buildings on the Royal Mile. A nice view of Arthurs Seat but the parliament's a disaster
The hotel is within 150 meters of Waverley Station, our room on the sixth floor overlooked Princes Street and the Scott Monument, there was also a view of Edinburgh Castle. The room was very nice having a huge double bed and a single bed. There were coffee or tea making facilities and a decent bathroom with a bath and shower. It is within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile where we walked to Holyrood House in one direction and then the full mile to Edinburgh Castle. The breakfast was superb offering Cereals, Juice, and a full range of cooked items, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns, Black Pudding and even Haggis. Plenty of Coffee & toast. The tram stops outside from Edinburgh Airport, (although we came up by train)

Old fashioned Gem

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: It felt cosy
Cons: The two narrow entrance doors
Booked this place for two nights so I could show a friend around Edinburgh You could not find a better location for wandering round this fantastic city Right across the street from the airport express and one block away from the tram system. Castle, art gallery, shopping and a gazillion great pubs all within easy walking distance Will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone

Noisy

Posted 19-Jan-2016
Pros: Good view of Princes Street.
Cons: Needs an overhaul, and definitely should put in double or secondary glazing.
Location: Very central for travelling and all the sights
Unfortunately there was construction work going on at the back of the hotel, and the hotel had no double or secondary glazing to shut out the sound. Thin walls meant there was much more noise internally than you would usually get in a hotel too. So, despite the lovely staff, great location and comfortable bed, I won't be recommending it as I thought it was highly overpriced and not good value for money

Great location

Posted 15-Jan-2016
Good value. Good location. Friendly staff. Nice food. Views of princes street from restaurant and bar. Good size room (triple). Nothing more to say. But keeps asking me to say more., won't let me finish review until I write more. If it doesn't accept this time I'm not going to bother to submit a review! Why do you have to write so much?

Hotel molto British

Posted 07-Jan-2016
Pros: L'atmosfera Old England
Pavimenti in legno scricchiolante e arredamento vittoriano.
