Good location. Not so good hotel.

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Hotel is located close to city center, train station and many attractions. Rooms are old, small and not in very good order. Our bed had a spring or something sticking up, not comfortable at all. We could hardly get our suitcase through the front door it was so narrow. We asked to be moved but were not accommodated. We would not stay again.

Great Location... OK Hotel.

Posted 20-Apr-2017
Pros: Great location especially if you're arriving or leaving by train. Easy walking distance to the Royal Mile, shopping etc. The room was clean and had charm. Cons: If you're arriving by car like us, you'll have to park 3 blocks away and walk. You'll also have to manage your luggage through narrow doors and up some stairs to find the reception. The biggest "con" for us though was a lower level room facing the back alley. The music from the bar was audible I think all night, but far worse was the noise from the back alley. Construction/ Garbage trucks, stumbling loud drunks and more. Kept me up pretty much the whole night. Too bad because the room was pretty nice. Not sure, but I'd bet a higher level room facing the front would be a lot quieter and make the stay worth while.

The hotel is run down. The rooms are small and very very noisy. The included breakfast is really poor. The hotel is not worth the price

A Noisy Stay

Posted 16-Apr-2017
Pros: Staff, location, cleanliness.
Cons: Double glazing.
Location: City centre location, perfect for visiting the city and Scotland as it is near the main railway station.
A lovely well run hotel, in a perfect location in the centre of Edinburgh. A good room and a friendly hotel run by very pleasant and helpful staff.....But, it is an old hotel and it does not have secondary glazing. Being on Prince's Street it is very busy and noisy, day and night. We didn't have a good night's sleep all week. If they can improve the sound proofing of the rooms it will really make it an excellent hotel.

Nice hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2017
Walking distance to everything so very convenient. Old facilities. Still using keys that you leave at front desk when you leave for the day. Supposed to be asked for confirmation it's your room when getting it back but never was asked and stayed for a week. Makes me nervous about leaving anything in room. No safe or fridge in room. Good views from window. Quite loud given its central location

Pros: On previous visit,everything.
Cons: Honesty in describing double roomd
Location: Handy to station, and tour buses
Room more like a single, bed small, one small window, looking out to side street very noisy, not at all the standard of the room on a previous visit, and at over £100.00 per night exspected something nicer,as this visit was to celebrate my wedding, very disappointed, spoilt what was to be something special.

Great view!

Posted 11-Apr-2017
Pros: The view
Cons: The front doors
Location: Close to station and tour buses and the National Gallery
I always stay at the Waverley in a front room because Edinburgh looks so wonderful from there, and is. The entrance doors on street level are a pain.
