Very friendly and clean B&B
Glenalmond was perfect for our stay. It was only a 30min walk into the center of Edinburgh and the staff (especially Jimmy) were excellent.

I’ve stayed at Glenalmond twice and found a great welcome on both occasions. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and well equipped and the breakfasts perfectly cooked. The location is a half hour walk to the centre but Newington up the road has plenty of restaurants and shops. My first choice now for a visit to Edinburgh

Great B n B
Lovely B and B with helpful, friendly hosts. Great free parking and good breakfast. Slightly further walk than we thought to the centre of Edinburgh but lots of buses go in that direction.

Excellent stay, spotlessly clean and friendly helpful staff. The only negative is that the catches on the doors were broken,but apart from that brilliant A*+++++++ Would highly recommend

We had a lovely day in Edinburgh followed by a great stay at The Glenalmond Guest House, lovely friendly helpful owners that obviously had very high hygiene standards and make a fantastic breakfast, we would definitely return and would recommend to our friends and family

Wish we were there for longer!
We were just pitstopping in Edinburgh for the night, but I wish it was longer! Our stay was amazing, Fiona and Jimmy were just lovely hosts and were happy to help us with anything we needed. Breakfast was absolutely phenomenal too, traditional Scottish breakfast including haggis. Bedroom was so lovely, the bed was big and comfy and the TV was massive which was great because we wanted to watch the football in a covid safe environment! We will 100% be back!

Wonderful experience, highly recommended.
We had the best experience staying at the Glenalmond House. The staff are amazing, thoughtful, helpful and kind. Breakfast each day was very tasty. The only mildly negative thing I'd have to say is that the shower was extremely small.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this review. We really appreciate it. It is true that we have some rooms with standard size showers, which means not a lot of space. We are actively looking at this and will enlarge the shower space wherever possible over the coming winter when we do our annual maintenance. Some showers we cannot change, as space is too limited in a few of the bathrooms. We do currently have 3 rooms with large showers. We hope to give you one of these rooms next time.

Great stay at Glen Almond.
Was great. Too bad it was only for a night. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Breakfast was very good. The busses drop off literally a few yards from the front gate. Busses to town are just up the road. Great location. Nice and friendly owners as well. Will stay there any time I am in Edinburgh.

The bed and breakfast was good. It was not walking distance from town but there were good buses. Room was a little small but very lovely. Breakfast was good and the staff was helpful

Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast
The husband and wife who operate Glenalmond House were gracious and welcoming. Parking is right out front, which is convenient. We had a room that opened on to a patio, which was very pleasant. Breakfasts were great! It is twenty minute walk up to restaurants and book store and such, another twenty minutes across the downtown area. Or, they are right on the bus line. For $5 you can get an all day pass.

Just Right
I had a very nice stay at Glenalmond House. The location is very close to the City Center with easy access to public transportation. The B&B was very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and the food was very good with a nice UK breakfast selection. Jimmy and Fiona were very nice and gave me good advice on restaurants. I felt that this was a good value given the higher prices of hotels near where I wanted to stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

Perfect location with free parking and only 20mins walk to the high street and old town, with local bars and restaurants on the way. The room and service was excellent,such a helpful lovely couple who run the hotel. The breakfast was amazing, you leave your order the night before and everything is freshly made. The room was large clean and a very comfortable 4poster bed.

Beautiful house, great breakfast.
Great location, so grateful they had parking. Lovely breakfast, best breakfast on our trip, and warm welcome....loely couple working hard. But, room was ugly and dated and window completely overlooked by next-door. The shower was down right dangerous. A precarious balancing act to get something in between scalding and freezing. Had to be out by 10 am seemed a bit tight. Great house but the furnishings were wrong, dark and dated.

Great B&B, great proprietor
From the moment of booking the communications were great, we asked to leave our car with them late morning and were told that wouldn't be a problem and we could check in at the same time. Jimmy was very welcoming when we arrived and gave us a map of Edinburgh to get our bearings. Room was a ground floor family room and was very spacious, bathroom wasn't large but was perfectly adequate. Lovely breakfast with some really tasty different choices from the norm including pancakes, waffles, full Scottish, salmon, etc

We liked everything about our stay except for our hostess. Jimmy was very helpful but we found the hostess to be very cool, curt in responses about our visit and basically lacked the open hospitable attitude we have come to enjoy at b and bs we have stayed at before and since. In addition, we were to have a street view but, instead, were given a smaller room, facing another building. We didn't notice until the next morning after our arrival and decided to let it pass - we felt the hostess wouldn't have been receptive to our complaint.

OK but not the best
Room clean and combortable but a bit noisy and the smallest shower we have ever seen! Breakfast was average, Hosts didn't introduce themselves and were unfriendly at best

Thank you for the review. We are very sorry - it seems that a number of things went wrong with your stay. We can only apologise for this. We know this is too late, but if you had let us know at the time, we would definitely have done our best to addresses any issues you had. Just for information, we can assure you that the showers are either standard UK size (80cm x 80cm) or larger - and a common size in the UK - our own shower is this size. We do have larger showers in the bathrooms where it is possible.

Within walking distance of downtown historical district. Staff are friendly and do their best to ensure guests are comfortable and satisfied with breakfasts and their rooms. Staff also gave info on nearby areas of city and location of nearest post office and laundromat. Rooms very clean and furnishings are lovely. Each breakfast is delicious. B&B in a quiet and pretty area of town.
