Hotel De Mendoza is very reasonably priced and the perfect location to experience the beautiful historical center of Guadalajara. The staff is courteous and accommodating. Be aware that only the standard rooms have balconies so do not upgrade your room if you want one. As that was important to me, we needed to move to another room and the new room was filthy. Our check in experience was not a good one but the staff went out of their way to make things right. Our room was adequate and had decent wifi. The balcony was good sized with seating for 2 overlooking the pool. The hotel has a restaurant but the food is nowhere near as good as the service; I recommend dining elsewhere except for breakfast.
Bottom line - it's not a luxury hotel but you can't beat the location for the price.
The hotel room was nice, very clean. The only disappointment was the a/c unit. It leaked water and when we called the front desk, they told us to turn it off for 15 minutes and then we could turn it back on. We did that but the a/c unit continued to leak so much we could not leave it on for long. The room got warm during the night which made it uncomfortable to have a good night sleep. We only stayed one night.
Founded by the Spanish in 1542, Guadalajara is rich in culture and history. Home to numerous colonial buildings, museums, parks, theaters, and churches, the city is also the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila. Attractions include Mercado Libertad, said to be the largest indoor market in Latin America, and the resplendent Teatro Degollado, which opened in 1866.
