You'll find fewer crowds compared to peak summer holidays, and the natural beauty of the area is at its best, with blooming flowers in spring and colourful foliage in autumn.

For couples looking for a relaxed yet engaging trip, these months offer the great balance. You can enjoy strolls along the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, visit the Des Moines Art Centre, or explore the varied dining scene along Court Avenue. Families will also find these times excellent for a visit. The milder weather is great for visiting the Blank Park Zoo or the Science Center of Iowa without worrying about extreme temperatures.
