Top Dilofo Hotel Reviews

The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection Hilton

10/10 Excellent

"A fantastic hotel with an outstanding team who truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The attention to detail is exceptional, and every aspect of the experience is thoughtfully taken care of. From arrival to checkout, the staff make every effort to ensure you have a memorable and enjoyable stay. Their genuine hospitality and commitment to guest satisfaction really set this property apart. Highly recommended!"

Nautilux Rethymno by Mage Hotels

8/10 Good

"Over all hotel is nice , Everyone working here was nice and kind . Anyhow for 5 star hotel shower enclosure is only 2 stars…. It is no door from living area to the bathroom,so it is crazy cold when you get out from the shower, and enclosure itself is ridiculously uncomfortable, Other thing -guests are allowed to smoke in a balcony,no separation between smoking and nonsmoking rooms,so you will smell disgusting cigarette smoke all day long… Also -5 star hotel does not have heated pool ,so October 12 th pool temperature was 15 degrees Celsius-that is absolutely ridiculous…please invest some money for your pool heating,so guests, who paid for 5 star hotel can enjoy it …"

Dyo Suites

10/10 Excellent

"The room was enormous! Cool Modernist design, nice touches like a coplementary fruit bowl. Discounts for eating in the restaurant. We didn’t end up trying the spa services, but they were extensive and either free or reasonably priced. My only complaint is that our room was right at street level and our patio visible (albeit just barely so) over the shoulder-high wall separating us from the street, which got noisy during the day. I suggest requesting a second floor room!"

Grecotel Marine Palace & Aqua Park

10/10 Excellent

"We had an amazing time everything from the transfers to and from the airport to the hotel, to the hotel itself just couldn’t fault anything. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and they were so friendly. This was the first time going all inclusive we couldn’t have chosen a better place the food was so nice and so much choice. The hotel was very clean and tidy the grounds were well maintained. We will be staying here again in the future."

Oros Luxury Beach Resort

8/10 Good

"We had a deluxe villa with own pool. It was just a shame due to staying later in the season, we did not get the sun on our loungers and the pool was very cold. (Still tried it though!!) Suite was lovely, Breakfast was good, lots of choice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Resort is close to main road, which was a bit annoying if sitting out. Overall though, could not fault the resort. However, walked along the nearest beach, and was very disappointed with the amount of rubbish and plastic around. Shame our tourist tax isn't helping with that!!"

Aquila Rithymna Beach

8/10 Good

"BEAUTIFUL MAINTAINED GROUNDS. FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF. WE HAD A PARTIAL SEA VIEW BUNGALOW - THE VIEW WAS GOOD & BUNGALOWS ARE LOCATED IN A QUITE PART OF THE RESORT. LOVED OUR BALCONY ( RM 30). MAIN CRITICISM OF THE ROOM IS THE OVER BATH SHOWER. WHOEVER PLANNED PUTTING THE TAPS IN THE CENTRE OF THE BATH AS WELL AS THE WIRE RACK & SOAP DISPENSERS HAS NEVER TRIED TO STAND TAKING A SHOWER IN THE BATH WHILST FIGHTING THE PLASTIC SHOWER SHEET - IT IS DANGEROUS . I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW HEAVIER / LARGER PEOPLE MANAGE IT!!. RECEPTION - VERY RESPONSIVE TO ANY REQUESTS IE COFFEE NOT TOPPED UP WAS QUICKLY RESOLVED. RESORT AMENITIES: POOLS BEAUTIFUL & WELL MAINTAINED. AQUA PARK GOOD FUN. BARS/RESTAURANTS: MAIN BUFFET BREAKFAST - EXCELLENT FOOD CHOICES BUT VERY BUSY. BETTER OPTION HAVE BREAKFAST IN PERGOLA SIDE - TABLES WIDER SPACED - FEELS LESS HECTIC. LOVED THE GREEK RESTAURANT / FOOD & STAFF. AL A CARTE RESTAURANT LOVELY. BEACH BAR - LOVELY DRINKS BUT UNDER STAFFED SO SERVICE CAN BE VERY VERY SLOW!!! SERVICE AT MAIN BAR POOR WHEN ON LOWER LEVEL. FAILED TO BE SERVED OUR DRINKS ON 3 OCCASIONS WHEN ORDERED DOWNSTAIRS. RESORT IS VERY CHILD FRIENDLY. WOULD I GO BACK - PERSONALLY THINK THE AI PACKAGE IS OVERPRICED AND THE ROOMS ARE NOT REALLY 5*. IN SPITE OF THIS WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY"

Grecotel Plaza Beach House

10/10 Excellent

"We booked a room at the last minute. There will a little mix up upon arrival but the hotel upgraded us and bought us dinner to compensate us. Honestly, there was no need. The hotel was fabulous and the staff could not have been friendlier. The beach area was perfect and exactly what we wanted during our time in Greece. Rethymno is a lovely town and not nearly as busy as Chania, which made a huge difference. We would definitely go back to this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dilofo?

The best area to stay in Dilofo is within the village itself, as it's a small, traditional settlement with a limited number of accommodation options.

Dilofo is a well-preserved, traditional stone-built village located in the Zagori region. It's characterised by its narrow, cobbled pathways, traditional stone houses with slate roofs, and the absence of cars within the village centre. The main square, with its ancient plane tree and a few tavernas, serves as the heart of the community. Many accommodations are restored mansions, offering a blend of historic charm and modern comfort.

For couples seeking a peaceful and romantic escape, staying directly in Dilofo is ideal. The quiet lanes and stunning mountain views provide a secluded setting. You can enjoy leisurely strolls, dine at traditional tavernas, and appreciate the unique architecture.

When is the best time to go to Dilofo?

The best time to visit Dilofo is during the spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the region without the intense summer heat or the chill of winter.

Spring in Dilofo is particularly appealing for those who appreciate nature. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in full bloom, making it superb for hiking and enjoying the scenic beauty of the Pindus Mountains. Temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, which is comfortable for outdoor activities and leisurely strolls through the village.

Autumn provides a similar comfortable climate, with temperatures generally between 10°C and 20°C. The changing colours of the foliage create a stunning backdrop for walks and photography. This season is also quieter, as the peak summer crowds have dispersed, offering a more peaceful experience. It's a great time for couples looking for a tranquil escape, with cosy evenings by a fireplace after a day of exploring.

While summer (July and August) is popular for holidays, it can be quite warm, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, which might be less comfortable for extensive outdoor activities.
