The Jephson Hotel, BW Signature Collection

"Very disappointed with our stay. We discovered broken glass shards in the bathroom and around the room, resulting in both my 6 year old child and my husband standing on glass. We also had our 10 month old baby crawling around the room before we found the glass, making the situation extremely dangerous and upsetting. After inspecting the room further, we found more pieces of glass still left behind, clearly showing the room had not been cleaned or checked properly before our arrival. There was also a loose and uneven shelf under the bathroom mirror, which may have caused something to fall and smash previously. We stayed during one of the hottest weekends of the year. Although we knew the hotel had no air conditioning, the heating had been turned up to maximum when we arrived, making the room unbearably hot, especially with young children. The interaction with the bar staff was also disappointing. We politely asked for extra ice to help cool our children down, but the response was dismissive and rude, including comments questioning whether we had air conditioning at home. What made the experience worse was the hotel’s response to the broken glass. Very little sympathy or concern was shown, and we were asked if we had broken something ourselves. No meaningful apology, refund, or compensation was offered despite the seriousness of the issue. A hotel room should be clean, safe, and properly prepared for guests, especially families with young children. Unfortunately, this stay"

Polo Club Hotel

"The room was immaculate! All the things you expect in a five star such as slippers, wardrobe, refrigerator. What I especially liked is the refreshments (including wine) in refrigerator were complimentary. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great as they cooked your eggs to order along with a buffet. The lounge was more than beautiful it is a work of art and could easily be placed in a museum where people would happily pay to see. You have to see this to believe it! The room was beautiful and also a work of art and very comfortable. The bed is very comfortable. So comfortable you don't want to get out of bed. The seats in the lounge and bedroom are very comfortable and unique with an roman Italian design similar to the lounge. The hotel has a great bar with many selections. We ate dinner at the pub which is adjoining to the hotel. The food was outstanding and similar to what you would have at a 5 star restaurant. You have to make reservations to guarantee a seat. My only drawback on the hotel is the walk in shower does not have bars on the wall which makes it difficult in balancing yourself when taking a shower (especially if not stable on your feet)."

"Room was very spacious, staff welcoming. Breakfast was lovely, lots of options and well suited for my 3 children. Lots of parking. Spa and wellness centre were a highlight, lovely and clean, staff couldn't have been more lovely and welcoming and the pool was nice and warm and perfect for my young children."

"This wasn’t our favorite stay. •Broken lift •Leaking toilet •Gurgling sink •pullout bed a health hazard for a child where the metal arms are. •musty smell from air conditioning unit. On the plus side breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly. We didn’t ask to switch room as after lugging all our luggage and pram, two children upstairs didn’t have the energy and also had a feeling all the rooms would be similar. We wouldn’t return to this hotel."

"We booked a two night stay as we had booked theatre tickets, the location was fantastic and having parking available, albeit for a price, was helpful. All the staff were friendly and helpful although we were initially sent to the wrong bedroom at the end of a very long corridor which we then had to walk back with luggage…. We understand these things happen but not the ideal welcome. Our room was comfortable & clean, unfortunately the upgrading of the air conditioning hadn’t reached it but there was a fan provided which helped. My only real criticism would be the shower over the bath, which I had difficulty setting to a reasonable temperature and the water pressure was poor, a grab handle to facilitate climbing in and out would also have been helpful."

Riverside Hotel

"Had a 2 night stay at the hotel in an Executive suite. The reception staff were very warm and welcoming & helpful. It was a business stay on a Friday and Saturday. Parking was good directly outside. Spacious room, very clean and tidy- the bed was absolutely huge and so comfortable it was very luxurious to sleep in after a hard days work. There was a beautiful wedding on at the hotel and looked so beautiful and glamorous, it was lovely to see. Very much enjoyed the stay & would definitely stay again.
