"I recently completed a 5-night stay at the Intercontinental Muscat. While there were some truly standout moments, certain aspects of the service did not quite meet the expectations of a luxury brand.
The Highlights: A Masterclass in Breakfast
The absolute highlight of our stay was the breakfast. I would give it a "Star Plus" for presentation, product quality, and taste. More importantly, the culinary team—from the Executive Chef to the junior staff—was incredibly warm and welcoming. They truly made us feel at home, and their hospitality in the dining area was the highlight of our mornings.
The Room and Housekeeping
The cleanliness of the hotel was satisfactory and met basic standards, though there is room for a bit more attention to detail to truly elevate the guest experience.
Areas for Improvement
Front Office & Reception: Unfortunately, the attitude of the reception staff was disappointing. We did not feel the level of welcome or professionalism one expects at an Intercontinental property.
Special Occasion Handling: I had informed the hotel well in advance of my wife’s birthday. Despite this, there was no recognition or even a simple birthday cake provided upon arrival. When I inquired, the staff claimed they attempted to deliver a cake but couldn't because the "Do Not Disturb" (DND) sign was on. This was unfortunately an excuse, as we never activated the the DND sign during our entire stay."
