![Mount Batur is the easiest climb of the three volcanos and provides spectacular views of Lake Batur and the ocean. It is also Bali’s most active volcano, so check whether it is safe to climb before you go.

Most people do the climb as an organized tour, but you can do it on your own if you prefer. If you decide to do the trek without a guide, be prepared to deal with local guides in Kintamani, the town where the trek starts, who have a reputation for being extremely pushy and doing almost anything to hinder people without a guide to reach the summit.

The track starts out as dirt path, but as it quickly gets steeper it also gets rockier and after a while vegetation is mainly limited to grasses growing among the rocks. Before reaching the summit, a small vender sells refreshments.

On the summit views reach as far as Mount Rinjani, and if you have a guide, he or she might cook you an egg boiled in volcanic steam before the descent.

Hight: 1717 meter

Difficulty: The trek is straight forward, so if you are in decent shape, you shouldn’t have many problems.

"Maybe not many people know this place, but Royal Indah Cabin is a hidden gem worth staying at. It’s easy to find on Google Maps, has large parking, friendly staff, and includes breakfast. The bedroom and bathroom are clean, the water heater works well, and the lake and mountain views are amazing. It’s also close to Dermaga Kedisan and a minimarket, which makes it really convenient. "Wow! Immersed in the jungle, and I never wanted to leaved. Dreams really do come true here. This property is unbelievable! Exactly as pictured and described! I could not be happier with my stay at Ayung. I booked the rainforest villa! The private pool all to myself, and outdoor shower?! So worth it. This room was so beautiful. The turndown service was so nice, and all the room amenities were perfect. I loved the restaurant food. I only had dinners and breakfasts there, but it was so good. I highly recommend treatments at the spa! Everything is just wonderful here. The best part, the staff! Afternoon tea service and happy hour is so nice. I want to come back to this property. I greatly appreciated the complimentary shuttle into Ubud. All the nice touches like the villa like mini bar with complimentary treats that were restocked daily, and the bath amenities made me feel so relaxed. I love this resort and I will be back! It was everything I needed and more. Lastly, i was glad i signed up for Yoga at the Spa! That was so nice and I ended up having private sessions because no one signed up for the 8 am class that day :)"
